Is it unusual for the falcons to go back to the nest box after all the rearing and fledging is complete? I don't think I can remember a season when this was as common as it appears to be this year... maybe I was not paying attention!

Slainte!

Bobbie

In the Kodak days they would turn the cameras off after the babies fledged so we didn't get to see this part of the season.  Unless a watcher was there to report it, of course.  Returning to the nest box & renewing their pair bond is typical peregrine behavior.  Beauty & Archer actually did this last year too-that's how everyone suspected Times Square was going to be the chosen scrape for this year.
12305  Rochester Falcons / Rochester Falcon Offspring / Re: Seneca Sighted at Brookpark Road Bridge with a Mate! on: 29-Jul-10, 03:26:02 PM
As I've said before, I will continue to believe that Warrior is OK until proven otherwise.

I know she's not banded, but there haven't been any reports (yet) of a downed/deceased unbanded juvie peregrine in the area.  I'm well aware of what the chances are, and I certainly respect C&C's opinion, but I've never been one to speculate about anything.  Without facts it's all a guessing game.  Maybe an educated guess, but a guess none the less.

That's my story & I'm sticking to it.

I have a similar problem here at work-there's a corporate firewall that "forgets" saved log-ins regularly.

I'm also wondering if your browser got updated (firefox has done several over the last week) and changed the settings for saving passwords.

For his role in the BP Gulf disaster, Tony Hayward is being sent to Siberia  hysterical  2thumbsup  clap

OK...not sure if his actual desk will be in Siberia, but still...

LONDON AP – BP is jettisoning CEO Tony Hayward, whose verbal blunders made the oil giant's image even worse as it struggled to contain the Gulf oil spill, and will assign him to a key job in Russia, a person familiar with the matter said Monday...

thanks for labeling the buildings. which of the tall buildings out there (if in picture) is the phsyc center?

That's one I learned the other weekend!  The psych center is in the opposite direction-I'd guess just about behind the photographer.
12310  Anything Else / Totally OT / The last roll of Kodachrome on: 25-Jul-10, 06:33:53 PM
The last produced roll of Kodachrome was given to the photographer who took the Afghan Girl photo for National Geo.  It's now "in the can" ...story at NPR

Interesting what he did before each exposure...

It's not Beauty, she's on the Xerox building.

Looks like Callidora to me

I may be a Pollyanna, but I truly believe no news is good news...Warrior is alive & well until proven otherwise.

Look how many hours are spent in Rochester staring at all the usual haunts without a hint of PEFA.  Then all of a sudden, if you're lucky, you're staring at the correct corner of Xerox when a brown bump suddenly appears for a second-Callidora waking up from a nap-then right back down again.

Brookpark Rd. doesn't have anything close to the nearly full time watchers we have.  She's out there-she just hasn't been found yet.
