How is C?  Are A&B reacting to J being missing?

BAAAD case of empty nest syndrome this morning.  Wish Miss Callidora would drop by for a visit...or Beauty...or Archer.     Though I might actually get something done for a change.

Last evening Callidora flew to the top of the 1st Federal building and back to Times Square and back again.  She was later joined by Jemison.  Archer & Beauty put in a few cameo appearances as well.  Large chunks of the videos are nothing happening-have to save at regular intervals.

So...the first video is Callidora on top of the elevator shaft...then she flies back to TS

the second video is Jemison and Callidora on top of the elevator shaft then they both fly off

I've been thinking all day that they must be the falcons that have been snatching all those dogs all these years!  And we never believed the stories!

Thanks for letting us know, Jim.  I was hoping for better news, but he's safe and in very good hands.

Although Jemison may be a bit off his game right now, I'm posting the following quote from Mark Nash at the Canadian Peregrine Foundation...

"So far, there has been NO mortality and everyone seems to be doing quite well, staying aloft and away from the windows. The very good news: Is that each of the juveniles have all brushed up into the windows, and unlike many other birds, the young peregrines actually learn the dangers of the windows, and if they hit them softly and don’t injure themselves on these initial collisions, they do learn to stay away from glass.

This is an important lesson learned, as they will soon be picking up incredible speeds as they get older and more experienced, and if they have not learned the “window lesson “ early in their flight development, collisions with the windows at advanced ages usually results in serious injury or most often mortality due to the speeds that the juveniles are now traveling. We actually hope that they experience the “window lesson� early in their maiden flights, as they are slow and sloppy in their flights, and usually hit them softly at this stage."

Although we don't know exactly what happened, hopefully Jemison will have learned from the experience and be back to his normal self in no time.

I have faith he'll be fine...

Update from Jim P: Jemison looks good per the Vet.  Dana has seen him too.

Glad the police thought to tell the watchers!  Hopefully he'll remember that the ground is not a nice place for a falcon to be!

Okay...help!!  I have a bit more info on that Band ID. It's black green 8/?  Here is what Frank has posted and sent me.  Any help would be appreciated.  I searched the Midwest database but they all seem to have double digits.

Both Mark and I could clearly see the Black over Green band with a number 8 over N,M,H or the number 4. Our best possibly view was hampered by glare from the sun.

OK-just a quick glance at the Rochester banding tables-black/green 8*/number = male bands 2005 & 2006

2005 aconcagua 8*/3* fulmine 8*/2*

so...looks like it may be NY-and, if it's a 4*, likely a male banded by Mike Allen
