SnagIt is a program I purchased from TechSmith years ago-although I'm seeing it in the toolbars of some microsoft programs on this lovely new work 'puter-I haven't investigated yet if it's fully functional.
Anyway-it has a variety of input and output options. For videos, I use region input with sound and select the section of the screen I want-there's another test video on youtube where I selected both streams-click start & it will record whatever is on the screen until you click on stop. I have it set to save in sequentially numbered *.avi files. I had to tweak some computer settings at home for some windows media player broadcasts (turn off video acceleration), but most work as is. I also have a couple of setups for stills.
I'll look and see how the freebie versions work. If anyone has the program & wants specific help, just ask
