You know what we want next (besides hatching to begin)? We need the LiveStream archive!
If there's a wish list for the website, I vote to add an archive of this.

I think that's on Shaky's to do list once there's something more to see...I think they'll be on youtube. Meanwhile, Ustream does archive the footage...you'll find them on the Ustream direct page under the picture. But each one is HOURS long...

Did everyone migrate to live stream??? This forum's pretty dead now. ??? No one's chatting over there either...LOL. Just glued probably. I think it has more to do with the nice weather than anything else...but I've been around today...just waiting...waiting... ...listening to motorcycles all day... and sirens! Scratch an itch...roll the eggs...talk to the eggs...more motorcycles...

Other Nature Related Information / General Nature Discussion / Walk in the woods resumes with a mystery bird

FINALLY got out to take a walk in the woods again...got out of shape over the winter & needed to work my way back up to it. Anyway, today's pictures (I'll post some later) are a bit abstract & mostly about capturing the shapes & color contrasts of spring. But I did catch this guy right before he flew off. I assumed it was a crow until I just looked at the picture. My first thought when I did (sorry-he's a little fuzzy from cropping) was grackle. But I would think the bill should be-not thin, but thinner. Unless it's just the angle-he was up pretty high & far away. Any thoughts? This is the full picture for perspective.

I also have today...which brings up the question, are we looking for a full hatch or just a pip appearing?
Since pip to hatch can take upwards of 24 hours, I think full, shell off hatch is the only way to go. I'm in for the 17th though I'm hoping I'm wrong. I really want the first one to hatch today or tomorrow so I can see...and HEAR...it. Monday I'll have to sneak peeks in between work. Ei - you need to get a laptop with an aircard or a smartphone that will allow you to work on the work machine and listen/watch on yours. If only it were that simple! Wireless & cellphone signals are chancy at best at work. And work 'puter does run the video (must be something in the embedding in Rfalconcam-standalone Ustream won't run) though without sound. No, it's carving out the time to watch. I usually get a few minutes in the morning while I load up programs...lunch...and a late afternoon break when my eyes have had enough numbers. SIGH!

Gotta be careful getting screencaps now! I was hoping the ad banner wouldn't show up but it does.
Yup-gotta be quick about shutting it down...and careful where the close button is on some ads! I don't get any ads viewing it from Rfalconcam page. If I go to Ustream, I do. That's odd...the ads were there for me in both places. Have you had it running for hours & hours? The ads will stop after a while. I did discover today that it will restart on it's own after about 8 hours...ads were back for a while then.
