(movie) Spiderman on Pan Cam

Hope it's not inside the dome!  A spider built a web inside the Norfolk eagle cam housing last year...what a mess!

Where is she going....Montreal?

I just browsed through all her monthly maps and she does seem to head up the St. Lawrence fairly frequently before heading toward Ottawa on her way back to Lennox...at least when she's doing the northeast leg of her tour  bguitar

Are you the person that was in contact with Lennoxman?  I see Quest periodically returns to that location, and was wondering...

Joyce

I'm really starting to think Quest is looking at the Lennox area as her "home base".  It seems to be about (very rough guesstimate) midway in her travels.  I hope her transmitter lasts long enough to find out for sure  happy

Archer bowing out @ 8:09

I would like to nominate this picture captured by Donna...need to keep the eggs dry on a rainy, windy day

An update from Linda...

 Eating Well.
May 07, 2010 - Toronto - Sheraton Centre
Linda Woods Reports:

The three Sheraton Centre peregrine chicks are eating well and sleeping lots.  The fourth egg is still unhatched and at this time, I’m not sure it will. If it is going to hatch, it should be with in the next day or two.

Rhea Mae and Tiago continue to be good parents.

I can't believe they wouldn't choose the Peregrine Falcon.  It's a fighter, coming back from the brink of extinction and there are multiple ambassadors nesting within the city of Toronto.  PICK THE PEREGRINE!!!   thumbsup

Doesn't even sound like it's in consideration...the NERVE!  Is there a Canadian Red Tail Foundation?  I think NOT!
13251  Other Nature Related Information / General Nature Discussion / Re: Red-tailed hawk soaring above competitors in search for Canada's national bird on: 07-May-10, 08:40:31 AM

"Personally I feel it shouldn't have any natural enemies, because I really don't want my national bird being picked on by some other animal out there."

RT's don't get picked on? That's news to the crows and peregrines.

And Blue Jays...that's how the NYC RTH watchers find them in the trees...watch & listen for angry Blue Jays...

13254  Anything Else / Totally OT / Waiting room Haiku on: 06-May-10, 08:40:50 PM
So I went searching for some of the original waiting room haiku to serve as inspiration...not much of a poet myself...

Imagine my SHOCK  scared blue at what I found...December 7, 2002...cat haiku (edit: found & shared by) our very own...SHAKY!!!  eyecat

Gosh, it's been days since someone posted about cats. What's wrong with you
people? This is the katfalconcam group after all. We have a quota to fill!

I guess I'll have to get the ball rolling with some cat haikus.

You never feed me.
Perhaps I'll sleep on your face.
That will sure show you.

You must scratch me there!
Yes, above my tail!
Behold, elevator butt.

The rule for today
Touch my tail, I shred your hand.
New rule tomorrow.

In deep sleep hear sound
cat vomit hairball somewhere
will find in morning.

Grace personified.
I leap into the window.
I meant to do that.

Blur of motion, then-
silence, me, a paper bag.
What is so funny?

You're always typing.
Well, let's see you ignore my
sitting on your hands.

My small cardboard box.
You cannot see me if I
can just hide my head.

Terrible battle.
I fought for hours. Come and see!
What's a 'term paper'?

Small brave carnivores
Kill pine cones and mosquitoes
Fear vacuum cleaner

I want to be close
to you. Can I fit my head
inside your armpit?

Wanna go outside.
Oh, crap! Help! I got outside!
Let me back inside!

Oh no! Big One
has been trapped by newspaper!
Cat to the rescue!

Humans are so strange.
Mine lies still in bed, then screams
My claws are not that sharp.

Cats meow out of angst
"Thumbs! If only we had thumbs!
We could break so much!"

The Big Ones snore now
Every room is dark and cold
Time for "Cup Hockey"

We're almost equals
I purr to show I love you
Want to smell my butt?

Funny...same scene as last night...Rhea Mae finishes feeding the triplets a little after 8...

Tiago shows up 10 minutes later with more food!

I seem to recall something about it being an actual dog house...there is some history behind it, but it's not coming to me right now.
13257  Other Nature Related Information / Falcon Web Cams / Re: Peregrines in San Jose on: 05-May-10, 08:44:23 PM
Oh dear, I posted this message to a different topic about the San Jose falcons  Embarrassed.  Oh well.  At the risk of repeating myself, here is an update:
Clara and Esteban Colbert made use of their new nestbox, with laying beginning on March 2, and finally had four eggs.  The first three eyasses hatched on April 11, and the fourth on April 14.  The saddest note is that our fourth eyas did not survive.  It seemed to just "fail to thrive" and expired around April 17.  We've taken a lot of video and posted to YouTube, so you can see their progress.  We now have three very robust three-week-old eyasses, and expect fledging in about two weeks or so!

Please visit our YouTube site: http://www.youtube.com/SanJosePFA  every so often.  Every few days we try to get some new video uploaded;  they change so fast!  You can see the webcam live streaming video also 24/7 here: http://www2.ucsc.edu/scpbrg/nestcamSJ.htm

I am watching your falconcam personally, checking in on the progress of Beauty and Archer every day.  Best wishes for their first brood, falconatics!   wave

Debbie

It's OK Debbie...we're still getting used to this format too!  Thanks for the update!

In years past I was able to follow the west coast falcons far more than I have this year, so it's good to have reports to read and videos to watch.
