In your enhanced version, Paul, what I thought was part of a V appears to just be a reflection, though I really can't see anything more.  Oh well!  Need a better view of the band.  Canada uses tape on the USFWS band, but their VID bands are all black. Eastern US for sure, but PA also uses tape.

Zephyr is 22/R...the lower letter looks more like a V than an R...gonna go out on a VERY shaky limb here just by mentioning Sacajawea (2007) is 93/V with yellow tape

Bobbie-were you a Rochester follower in the days of the incubation haiku?  It was a fun way to pass the time.  And Aafke's name that bird contests...I'm forgetting something else...

Hey Ei...Bobbie was on the old Kodak Board discussion! Yes, that long ago!  clap

I thought so, but I wasn't sure...a lot of us have been around that long!

What's with the cybernetic falcon at Terminal Towers in Cleveland?

Now that's creepy....it does look like the wires are keeping her charged up.  surprise

Still no clue what's up with the Cleveland blackout-

Anyway...this was posted under Scott's photos yesterday-I guess the calbles are what they use to raise the "drawbridge" on banding day so the eyases don't scoot over the edge

"Yes that cable. It will just be a bear to pick that up and raise the bridge on banding day, YIKES. I am not looking forward to it. Yes the kids will be playing with it.

Its nice that now it rests in the box. Before it was propped up. On banding day we will lay the cable flat on the ledge under the nest box so it will be out of the way.

If U all recall the old speaker system had wires all over the place handing down, I cut and removed as many of them as I could and the rest were removed durring the work on the ledge.

The cable is nice and thick and covered, so its very unlikley that (unlike a bare narrow wire that posed a greater risk now thankly they are gone) this cable will pose any risk to young birds.

My fear is on banding day I have to stick my body outside the window to grab that darn cable when holding the sheild to keep SW off me. It will be cool to see how Ranger reacts to me when I go out the window to raise the bridge on banding day."

"Archer: Ya ya, I know!"

As I looked at the pic of wee Archer trying to scrunch all those eggs under his tiny belly, Leo Sayer came on the radio singing: "I'm a one-man band - Nobody knows or understands..." Kinda Archer's theme song this year...

Slainte!

Leo Sayer... now that's going back a while!

The reality

And for those who may be new here...this is perfectly normal.  Most tiercels have a challenging time keeping all the eggs under them.  The eggs will be just fine.

Though we've seen two before, but just one yesterday, we are hoping they are a nesting pair.  We did catch bands but not numbers.   Does Rochester put colored tape on the right leg over the FWS band?

Yes we do use colored tape on the USFWS band...the M&K family tree has the tape colors (can't find the link right now for the band mubers)
13379  Rochester Falcons / Rochester Falcon Discussion / Re: Change guard on: 16-Apr-10, 09:40:09 AM
happy clap
You have to admire the fortitude of these birds as they "change guard" on the eggs.  And Archer appears to be so tiny.   I don't remember Kaver with an egg under his wing and having such a tough time with the eggs  as the pic of Archer shows.  But he's doing a great job!  Four eggs!  Wonderful.  May both Beauty and Archer  (and all the people  keeping in eye on things)  keep the eggs safe.

Margaret, Kaver was well known for the occasional out-of-brood egg...I'll have to hunt up some saved pictures...it was always adorable!  Archer is definitely taking after him  wub2

Sorry to ask - but is the first post re Residential Falcons from Donna or Dumpsterkitty?

Not sure...It's probably several pages ago.  I posted about Marla being seen in Ohio...I think Donna posted the "official" news.
