This make perfect sense! Ei, you'll see this on the other side of the River at Catskill and NJ has pieces of Morris and Deleware Canals all over the place and many are also paved over.
The canal in my neck of the woods is the D&H...Delaware & Hudson...from Port Jervis to Kingston...then the boats would head up to the Erie Canal

I posted this last week... I was puzzling over the article, not knowing much Rochester history. So I did some digging and I found this old map of Rochester on an Erie Canal history site. Looking at the path of the canal right through the middle of downtown it now makes sense-Broad St. was constructed over the Erie Canal-the canal even crossed the Genesee right where the Broad St. bridge is currently. I added the pink arrows along the path of the canal-the far left one is where I believe the demolition is starting. The red star is where the Times Square building is now-corner of Exchange & Broad. One other interesting note-a lot of the streets have new names...the lower end of State St. was Carrol St. at the time.

Yes Aafke is from the NlL but Ei is from Georgia, NY. Donna-I was in chat earlier & as I typed "an hour south of Albany" I wondered if the discussion at the time had you thinking Albany, Georgia...it's the only thing I can think of No Ei, that's not it...I don't know why I thought you were from Georgia. I connected you with Jim in Atl as being close to each other. Hey, I can have a moment...or 50! Hey...figured it might be something like that...we ALL have our moments!

Yes Aafke is from the NlL but Ei is from Georgia, NY. Sorry Ei... for some reason I thought you were overseas too... Welcome back to NY! (in my mind, anyway! ) ezsha I have to laugh...I've never been from anywhere but NY...Brooklyn directly to Ulster County. I don't know where anyone got the impression of anything else. No apologies needed...it's just funny!

Rochester Falcons / Rochester Falcon Discussion / Question for the watchers...

It may be the new angle of the Main cam...different reference points than I'm used to...gravel below the lip of the nest box...but...
Is Archer smaller than a typical tiercel? Sometimes he looks positively tiny!
Or is it that Beauty is larger than your average falcon? She looks huge compared to Archer!
Or both?
Thanks for your opinion!

I always read the news with a grain of salt...I don't know-I don't see any dirt in with the nestbox gravel as reported...and I doubt June only gave 2 short sentences about Mariah. In any case, unless her band is reported I choose to believe she is either nesting somewhere we haven't found or she's enjoying her retirement
