13591  Support / Help! / ID band info? on: 02-Apr-10, 08:09:19 AM
Is there any way to put ID band info somewhere, maybe on the camera page, to help us uncertain ones ID who we're looking at?  I've searched unproductively to find it, and I think I got Archer and Beauty confused again this morning...
Thanks!
ezsha

Good idea, but a quick ID tip-Archer's right band is all black, Beauty's is black/green

Short video of the banding.

I made an album of screen captures from the "banding".  NBG Eaglet Banding Turns out they were too small after all...only the eldest has bands on as of today.  The middle eaglet got banded, but they slipped off in the nest & the climber had to go retrieve them.  The youngest wasn't banded at all.  They're planning on re-banding them when they go back for a transmitter placement.

Cam looked like it was stuck for a minute...and it was...switching to the attic view of 4 beautiful eggs!

No vest, but short brown hair under the baseball cap, with glasses.

There's an interview going on.

It was 70 degrees out, so the vest stayed in the car.  I didn't see any falcons at lunchtime, but I did have a nice long conversation/interview with Peter Iglinski from WXXI radio (he's been a fan since the Mariah/Cabot-Sirocco days).  I imagine his story will be on the news tomorrow morning (and maybe the afternoon too).  It's 1370AM, 88.5FM, or you can find them online at wxxi.org.

He got a big kick out of the stories about A&B mating on Mercury's foot.

So it WAS you!  The glasses faked me out, but I guess Shaky was right...I didn't think sunglasses, being in a windowless office at the time  Wink  Hope they post it online!

Nice view of the 4 eggs as Mme. leaves for her evening constitutional

This is great!   clap  Is it me or are they not spending much time in the box?  confused

M&K didn't really spend much time in the nestbox either until there were eggs & eyases...

Hmmm...it's a mystery, then-I don't believe Lord G (AKA Jim P) wears glasses any more-unless that's changed recently.

Which, of course, brings up a memory...so many after all these years...

Banding day 2004-Jim was assisting in the playpen...Mariah swooped down on him and his glasses...well, as with many memories, it's best immortalized by Shaky...

Quick question: am I daft and can't figure out how to do it or do I not have clearance to start a post topic?

Hmmm...it's a mystery, then-I don't believe Lord G (AKA Jim P) wears glasses any more-unless that's changed recently.

No, you're not daft...there are several categories with special features like this one.  Falcon watch topics can only be started by the Yarak bot in response to a new Falcon Watch blog posting.  Average users can then reply, but not start a new topic.  We do that in the Rochester Falcon Discussion category.   (edit) I will note, though, that most of the running commentary seems to happen as replies to the Pictures from the Rfalconcam cameras thread.

Others-like Rfalconcam Now-send a tweet to watchers on the ground every time a new topic is posted, though replies don't generate a tweet...

Falcon Watcher Watcher Report:

There's a guy with a baseball cap, a camera with a big lens and binoculars pointing at the Times Square Building and chatting with a guy carrying a bag and a microphone from WXXI at the corner of Exchange and Broad.

No sightings of any meatball subs yet.

Hmmm...possibly wearing a vest with many pockets?  Sounds like we might have a rare Lord G sighting!

Love this picture!   thumbsup

And the resolution is excellent (thank you all involved!)...you can even seen the dust on her talons from digging!
13602  Rochester Falcons / Rochester Falcon Discussion / Re: Identify the parts of the nest box? on: 01-Apr-10, 11:31:40 AM
You mean like perch, platform, plank, ramp, roof, etc?

Not quite... if I remember correctly from the Kodak tower, there were 'names' for the various areas the pfs frequented... is the area immediately in front of the box playpen 1 and the one further out by OSCR playpen 2? And the area the ramp leads down to is...?

Well, this is the first season with any real activity here, so I guess we'll be coming up with labels as we go along.  We've mostly been using which cam is showing the bird so far.  In my mind I've been thinking perch, porch and ledge so far...

First time I've seen Beauty picking pebbles!

[/url] She sure is early at the nest, thanks Ezsha.

Anybody know what the blinking light is on the horizondirectly off the first bar in front of the nest? (I'm thinking Cam 1 is facing southeast-ish, but I'm not sure
