Rochester Falcons / Falcon Watches / Re: The Return of Archer to Rochester, NY - 3/21/10

I’m on the 10th floor of the Times Square Building and my office faces east, so I have a great view of their comings and goings. Yesterday I got to my office at around 9:00 and there was quite a bit of activity for the following few hours; I saw a group of watchers on the Broad Street bridge. Today they’ve been flying in and out, making quite a racket. Right now they’re sitting on Mercury, one on the head the other at the base.
When they fly to the next box they always seem to zoom right by my windows. Once in a while it looks as if they’re headed straight at me, then veer up at the last second, giving me a great show. Other times I see them carrying in a meal. Hard to believe they can fly while holding a pigeon.
Oh I envy you your front row seat! Thanks for the report...and welcome aboard!

Rochester Falcons / Rfalconcam Now / Re: Scrape started?

After a 5 minute falcon visit (Main Camera) shortly after noon, it appears that there is the beginning of a scrape. Compare Camera 2 at 12:04 with Camera 2 at 12:34 and after. Falcon back at 12:50. Sorry, I can't distinguish them yet. . .
You beat me to it! I was getting my pics in order... Sunday Monday It could be either of them scraping, but I thought to check the pebbles when I saw Archer with his feet dug in pretty well here...

Anything Else / Totally OT / Re: Don't forget to watch this tonight 8pm Discovery channel

I loved the Discovery Channel series from a year or two ago called Planet Earth. I've seen 5 promos for this new series, though, and am afraid to watch it because it sounds like it's going to be mostly animals killing other animals. I would love to hear reviews from those of you who watched it tonight so that I know if my impression was wrong or not.

I'm with you Dot...watching big cats catch dinner is not my cup of tea...I hear the next episodes will have less of that.

Looks like Beauty may have brought in the prey. Did she catch the woodcock, or did Archer give it to her in midair?
Either way, the Watchers downtown must have gotten quite a show! Hope all those camera batteries are well charged.
Paul
And Archer absconded with it...it surely will be interesting to watch A&B establishing a territory...
