I have faith in this pair, Alison.  They rode out a similar storm last year just as the eggs were hatching...

Both eaglets hatched surrounded by snow...

Poor Momma Blackwater looks like she's gonna be buried again...

I somehow think something got lost in translation.  While Tai Shan may not be a "rock star" anymore, the pandas are well taken care of and loved by their keepers.

OK...Found some pictures of Tai Shan's arrival with this comment on the article...

"as a chinese panda lover
I can say with certainty that this reporting is not accurate.
I know WuDaiFu and his colleague make great contribution to Pandas

I suggest that she should find a better interpreter
if it doesn't work
she needs to improving her understanding and writing skills"

Hua Mei photos here

And Mei Sheng photos here  Please note the birthday photos with fruitcicles.

And, just because, one of my favorites I took of Tai Shan just after his first birthday

I was wondering if it was a misguided attempt at tongue-in-cheek humor...didn't work for me!

When I get home I can post some other links I have saved-pictures of Hua Mei & Mei Sheng from San Diego.  I'm not a fan of their rushing the babies away from the mothers, but sometimes saving a species from extinction isn't pretty...

I somehow think something got lost in translation.  While Tai Shan may not be a "rock star" anymore, the pandas are well taken care of and loved by their keepers.  Anyone who saw Mao Mao's keeper when her body was found after the earthquake knows how much the keepers care.  There is a bit of a space crunch right now until a new center is built to replace the one that was destroyed.  I've read many reports of visitors who say, while the quarters aren't as spacious as a zoo, they are adequate and the pandas seem content.

Tai Shan and Mei Lan have arrived safely...reports and photos at Pandas Live On

And...re: the new links...can they be set to open a new tab/window like the internal forum ones do?  Not being greedy or anything  Wink ...it's just a nice feature if it's available.

Yes, it can be set that way although it can be confusing for new users. They could end up with 50 windows open!

The trick I always use when I want to open a link in a new window is to hold down the shift key while clicking on the link. When I want to open the link in a new tab, I hold down the control key (command key on Mac) while clicking on the link.

I do see where it could make a mess if you're not looking for a link to do that.  I usually just right click & open a new tab or window if I need to, but sometimes I forget particularly after I've been spoiled by the links within the forum.  We can always revisit it later.  Thanks!

And a tad too sensitive for my taste...they're dropping down with even a glancing touch of the cursor...one of my pet peeves on other sites.

I have added a short delay before the menus drop down. Quit and restart your web browser and then see if the menus work better for you.

The new top menu does have links to every page including some new ones that are coming down the pike. This means you can quickly get to any page from any other page.

Better...thank you!

13793  Anything Else / Totally OT / Re: TROLLS on: 01-Feb-10, 12:26:13 PM
Was just on Norfolk cam watching and on the right is a live chat. Well there is a TROLL and what a gutter mouth. Totally ruined everything. They had to stop the chat. Pretty pathetic. We had them on a few of our discussions also. I guess they are every where.

There were a few there yesterday too...thankfully they weren't too foul.  I can never understand what they get out of ruining someone else's fun...

I think probably because it's a part of google, I'm automatically signed in when I go to a Picasa page. I have a gmail account but never use it. Could be eh?

Actually, it was the gmail log-in that had all greyed out comment boxes...my prodigy (yahoo) ID allowed some comments.  Doesn't matter-just odd...

I didn't have to sign in....comment bar was right there. Strange.

Strange...comment box is greyed out on some pictures but not others when I logged in with a different account...
