Good job Donna. Congrats on being our first cyberspace falcon. Lou Thanks all, I'm honored to be a Cyber-Falcon..it seemed very easy for me to reach that 1,000 post milestone. Maybe I'll slow down now and let you all catch up.... As we used to say in Brooklyn...MIGHT EVAH!

There is something to be said about being anti-social like me I actually set it up originally just for signing up with groups I didn't know...any junk it might generate would be easily spotted for what it was and kept out of my real account. This is the first time in all these years that it's caused a problem. So....a new variation of the dumpsterkitty theme at gmail is now active for all my groups...

Cross posting....thankfully not too many places I'm active with that address...
If anyone in this group should receive an email from my OLD account
dumpster_kitty15 @ hotmail.com
please delete it. It is NOT from me...looks like Windows Live has sucked up my email history in "suggesting" people I might like to "friend". And I think it's because I emailed a relative at a hotmail account who has a bunch of "friends" in his "network"...AARRRGH!
I sometimes long for the days of dialing up a dedicated ISP.

I live and work here in Webster, but I also have a place on Chaumont Bay. My parents live there full time. We are located on Point Peninsula, specifically. All this means we are just 10 miles from Cape Vincent's main street. Wolfe Island is just a stone's throw from town.
It is quite beautiful there, although I've only driven through in the winter...hopefully there will be a reason for a spring/summer road trip through there next year!

!!! One Mystery Solved, and another mystery surfaces?? May 20, 2009 - Scarborough - Bell Mark Nash Reports:
Stay tuned, as this could get very interesting indeed!!
We stayed until it was too dark to see clearly and watched Linn settle in for the night on the upper east ledges of the building.
I think we'll find out in the spring that she's fine. I suspect her "nest" turned out like Archer & Beauty's-not quite enough experience to successfully deal with an unestablished site and Linn had a 2 timing mate to boot!

One concern (if it even is one), Wolfe Island (land mass near Quest) has just brought 100+ wind turbines online.
YIKES! I certainly hope it's not something to worry about! Where are you located, Chicki?

No wonder Quest hasn't been seen at the power plant...she's on her way to Cape Vincent, NY! Or on her way back...or she read Chicki's note and she's checking out the ferry!

Yes, your right Ei...but if Quest decides to use it, will it have to be changed? A hack box would have a cover on the front, therefore...back door feedings.
There are usually removable bars on the front so the birds can see out but not get out until they can fly and they can't see the person dropping a quail in the back door. I don't remember if the bars were there or not in Scarborough, but they are easily removed if someone decides to use the box for a nest.

Looks like metal to me. I also noticed a back door...I'm not sure if this is right. According to Bob Anderson : "People often want to modify this design by building an access door on the back. Don’t do this – it is very, very dangerous for the chicks. If people try to reach in from the back during banding, they will drive the chicks to the front. If the chicks are panicked enough and old enough, they can be bumped into premature flight. This is a very bad thing."I think Lennoxman mentioned it was originally set up as a hack box (Linn was seen at a hack box in Scarborough) and the back door on those is for feeding the eyases before they're released.

If this little one's flight feathers haven't come in, how did it fly?
What a sweet little face! So glad he was rescued
Who knows...everyone has their own theory on Falcons and is it true that blue winged falcons are males and brown winged are females? Is it that easy to tell??? ??? I don't know...last time I looked, Mariah had slate blue wing feathers. I have heard some say that the female's feathers have a brownish cast where the male is more blue, but I personally don't see it.
