OK...so you may have suspected I have a blog habit. It's really quite a terrible addiction...hours wasted on...stuff...fed by clicking randomly on the blogroll at a favorite blog & on & on... So one I found that just leaves me roaring every time is Lovely Listing-Odd finds in Real EstateSome of the pictures are a bit tough to see...but to get to the actual listing, click on the "found by:" link. Anyway...here's a sample... Run! It’s Gigantor, emerging from the Earth! Um… and looking for his nose. OK, maybe it’s Optimus Prime. Still, whichever giant robot it is, would you want to stick around? (”Energy efficient dome house able to withstand hurricanes and tornados,” sez the ever-so-helpful real estate agent. Because when you live in Maine, those are biiiiig concerns.) Found By: Kimberly L

Other Nature Related Information / General Nature Discussion / Hummingbird stories

Saw this over on Birdchick I’m writing an article for Bowtie’s Popular Bird Series Hummingbird Issue and one of the editors emailed that she is looking for reader submissions of memorable hummingbird stores in 300 words or less. Annika Small says she’s looking for stories like you were having a bad day and a hummingbird came into view, brightening your outlook or you were once mesmerized staring out your kitchen window at a hummer or two visiting one of your feeders? Did you see an unusual hummingbird passing through your property one summer? Have you taken a vacation just to look for hummingbirds?
Please send your favorite hummingbird memory to Annika at asmall@bowtieinc.com, no later than Nov. 16, 2009. The best memories will be published in the upcoming Hummingbirds issue of the Popular Birding Series, which will be on newsstands in early spring. Please include your full name and address in your e-mail.I recall some neat hummingbird stories over the years here...perhaps you'd like to see them published!

From Rochester Falcon Watcher Carol P.
It's so nice seeing Mariah again.-
That is an understatement! She looks fabulous! So...what exactly is St. Ann's? She sure looks comfy there. I personally hope she stays right where she is...it would be nice to see her for myself on a cam, but I don't want to invite trouble. Looks like she's doing very nicely in her new territory, and now that you all know where to look she's being pretty visible Ei

Me too! Dana joined me at the bottom of the hour and Dan Stiehler showed up just about 1PM. Dana and I got to watch Mariah chase after a pigeon, though she wasn't successful. Mostly she just sat at the apex of a glass pyramid at the center of the mall. Lighting wasn't the greatest but here are a few pictures.
She looks beautiful! And I see evidence she's been frequenting the pyramid !
