1396  Rochester Falcons / Rochester Falcon Discussion / Re: 2019 Pictures from the Rfalconcam Cameras on: 25-Apr-19, 12:52:36 PM

Interesting.  Yesterday, DC was on egg duty for a very short period of time - like 5 minutes, when something caught his attention, he started fast chirping and was out. Normally if it was something in the airspace, he'd be kaaking. This was his fast chirp - like B does when there's a falcon intruder.  B came back to eggs.  I think he returned a short time later.  I'll try to find the timeframe in archives.  I think you are right.  I think there was a floater yesterday which required him to spend his time at TSB.

ETA: DC came on duty at 2:31. Something got his attention at 2:36.  He left. B returned almost immediately.  He then came back in at 4:01pm and looked a little wet or disheveled. If you look at the stills, you can see his head is puffed up.

I wasn't watching the stream so I didn't catch all that detail...thanks.  He was concerned about something when he left. I did notice his head was wet when he came back at 4 but didn't think much of it at the time.

I think I'll zoom out Main Cam at night. We'll get a better view of the top of the nest box.

Good idea. While the zoom is nice we don't really need it for a few more weeks.

Who was this yesterday morning?

It might just be the early morning light, but it looks to me like at least 1 juvie tail feather

Today has been interesting. Dot was on the eggs for a bit over an hour this morning. Beauty took over again at 9:37. Then Dana tweeted DC was on OCSR right after that at 9:42. I moved the cams a bit later and he was still there...

Then he came to the deck for a few minutes then left. It appeared to me he took off toward the north, but a quick cam sweep didn't find him.

He came by for a quick lunch break around 2:30 then he was on the eggs from 4:01 to 6:24.

Not much we can do about the whole situation except document what we're seeing.

One of the most calming, restful sights I can imagine is a peregrine sitting on eggs. I love this time of year!

I so agree Paul. I need to make a few recordings for when I need something soothing to watch.

Egg chart #2!
1406  Rochester Falcons / Rochester Falcon Discussion / Re: 2019 Pictures from the Rfalconcam Cameras on: 20-Apr-19, 05:21:59 PM
Hi All.  Hope everyone is well and enjoying the season.  hello

I have been watching a little, when I can, but also looking at archives and backing up YT. Anyway, I don't see that DC has been on the eggs since yesterday (4/19) at 2:46pm.  Has anyone seen him come in today?  Around 9AM, B got off the eggs for about 4 minutes, then back on. I was able to back up YT and see it was her leaving and returning.  Just concerned.  Based on archive pics, it appears the weather really picked up right after DC got off the eggs.  Not trying to sound an alarm, but hoping maybe someone has seen something, or has access to a longer video.

He just came in at 12:46pm... Whew!

While it is normal in bad weather I was getting a bit antsy too since I haven't been able to check in all day. Glad he showed up! Phew is right!

I guess it being the weekend I won't find out about the bands definitively but maybe someone here can help as well.  His band number is in the database however it doesn't specify if the USFW is purple or not?  I guess they don't as I just checked O'Connor's bands and they don't specify it either.  I just didn't want to say 'oh yeah it's this guy and then it turns out there's a twist and he's not' - it happened once before years ago so I won't say for sure it is.

The mid-west USFWS bands are purple...and that database is for the mid-west only. (Wish we had an east coast one too). East coast USFWS is silver. If they have a resident bird with a silver band they will note it in there somewhere.
