OK...I feel better now...although we were 99.99999% sure we had all 4 over the weekend, Matilda was the only one not positively ID'd by band. Several sightings of a "very big girl who looks just like Beauty" but she never stopped where we could see her band.

18 is a long, healthy life for a Peregrine! OK, so help me out here, she has a mate for 2 years, no eggs, no babies but he stays with her. I thought males just want to have (sex) and make babies!! Not if it's the absolutely most prime nesting spot in the area. Territory is far more important than offspring.

On Saturday Joyce took me on a raptor tour of the greater Rochester area. While at Braddock Bay I spotted a small blue-gray bird with a white chest & white stripe on it's tail hovering over the grass. Blue-gray hovering bird only brought up a kingfisher in Joyce's app, but it doesn't have a white tail tip. I knew I'd spot it as soon as I could get to my Peterson's...Eastern Kingbird From all about birds: With dark gray upperparts and a neat white tip to the tail, the Eastern Kingbird looks like it’s wearing a business suit. And this big-headed, broad-shouldered bird does mean business—just watch one harassing crows, Red-tailed Hawks, Great Blue Herons, and other birds that pass over its territory. Eastern Kingbirds often perch on wires in open areas and either sally out for flying insects or flutter slowly over the tops of grasses. They spend winters in South American forests, where they eat mainly fruit.
