Quest just had food at the nest. She left-no apparent hatch though I can't see the one at the back well. Skye came in...Quest came in &told him something & left again. He's not hard on the eggs. Might have a hatch in progress.

Stopped at the Bald Eagle nest after work. The people with the long lenses say there are 2 hatchlings. I definitely saw 1 of them being fed...hard to make out but it is visible in the 3rd & 4th pictures!

[I hope the pictures come through...too tired to upload them to flickr right now...]

It appears there are 2 hatchlings on the nest!

I saw Mom in feeding posture yesterday as I zoomed by to work. I stopped on my way home and spotted a photographer with a big gun...might have been a spotting scope...it was across 4 lanes & a median. Anyway, with a bit of charades he told me he saw her feeding to 2 spots in the nest so 2 for sure!

No pics from me-I could barely focus on her through the trees with my binoculars.

Unless I'm starting to see things, one of Quest's eggs has a pip (see attached).  She's a lot more active than she has been.

It's very hard to see anything in that nest box. I'm not really sure when to say hard incubation started. There was an unusually long gap between eggs 2 & 3 (#2 arrived 03/26 & #3 03/30). If we count from 03/30 it should be Saturday or thereabouts.

P.S.-if a moderator could move this discussion to the Quest & Skye thread that would be great. Thanks.

Done.
Thanks

I do see a white spot when Skye is rolling the eggs, but knowing what a control freak Quest is, I really doubt she'd leave him on the eggs if one is actually pipped.

Last night and this AM, Mei Xiang was artificially inseminated with sperm from her mate, Tian Tian, and Hui Hui, resident at the Wolong Panda Research Center in China!

I see Dot.ca is sporting a very fetching feather fascinator today.

...and a mustache as well!

Egg sitting shifts!

These two are very consistent. You'd think they were punching a clock.

It is funny...usual daytime shift is around 2 hours...8 or 10 shift changes a day. The earlier Dot finishes his shift for the day the earlier he arrives in the morning...and vice versa.
