Say it IS a duckling... I did not know that falcons took prey other than on the wing. I would be interested to know if they take prey from the ground.
They generally don't take prey from the ground. But they have been known to go down to the river for a bath occasionally. And they will retrieve prey that fell to the ground. Archer did bring a duckling once. Probably just right place & time.

DEC reported during banding that she had a very full crop. That might have played a part.
Thank you DEC! And I apologize for my panicked partially all caps tweet And for spelling eyasses incorrectly in that same tweet. I don't think there's any need to apologize for the panicked tweet. I don't think any of us were breathing at that point.

Little stinker, scared us all stiff too! I can breathe now! And thank you to DEC for sticking around to make sure all was well... Yes big thank you and big sigh of relief. Oh my - I had to walk away from computer. Just came back, and it's like a miracle! Heat or dehydration? Did the eyases get weighed and checked out? Will there be a report? They don't get weighed here, but they are given a general health check. We usually don't hear anything if all is well, which it usually is. I really don't know what happened. I wonder if it toppled over & froze like they do when they're threatened. The other 3 barely moved that whole time but they were right side up so they looked OK. They all finally moved when Beauty came to the perch.
