How do the parents react when the folks doing the banding approach the nest and take the eyas out? Do they try to attack them? How do the parents act while the eyas are gone and then after they are returned?
They will fly around trying to ward off the intruders. At some nests they will make contact with the banders. They will continue to fly around while the eyases are out of the nest and even once they are returned. Once they feel they have "defeated" the intruders they will return to the nest.
