Feeling dumb...where is ST? paperbag

Seneca Towers - a senior citizen apartment complex on St. Paul Street on the east bank of the Genesee River, about three miles north of downtown.

Didn't we used to call it something else? I remember when Billy was hanging out near there...it's near the Hawkeye plant & Driving Park Bridge, right?

It's by 104 on the east side of the Genesee River just past the Veterans bridge and Keeler St. expressway. And we have always called it ST as far as I know. Hawkeye is about 1.5 miles south of Seneca Towers on St. Paul Street

I guess it didn't register in my head as a "place to check for falcons" once Billy stopped hanging out there. It was connected in my mind to checking Hawkeye...sorry.

Looks like a Red-shouldered hawk to me.  http://www.allaboutbirds.org/guide/red-shouldered_hawk/id

Thanks...that's a definite possibility too. I couldn't see anything of the front so I have no clue there.

I agree-Red-shouldered.  hawk

Thanks guys! Ann B in Toronto concurs. I guess I need to add red-shoulder to my list of usual suspects.

secret2 Don't feel bad...I didn't know either.  Should probably be added to our Glossary along with some other abreviations watchers use.

I had one too the other day! I don't know my hawks yet!

I usually use this link to check the field marks for adults...

Can't see enough of yours to guess.

The juvies are tougher. And on mine the eyes are darker than I would expect in a very young coop...that's why I'm questioning it. It is about the right size...

In observance of Earth Hour, Rfalconcam will turn off the cameras in the nest box for one hour starting at 8:30 PM EDT.

(Putting this on the calendar now before I forget.)

There wasn't much advertisement for it this year as there usually is...
