Is that when Mariah was injured?

Yup. Carol & Brian weren't supposed to be out watching that day. I don't recall the details, but they went out anyway. They saw the battle and rescued Mariah from a doorway.

Was Mariah's band tri-striped or was that just tape???

For those coming late to the discussion, Mariah was banded (left band only) when she was in rehab. DEC put blue & yellow tape over her USFWS band when she was released.

Wow, she's beautiful.  It must have been so sad to see her bested by Beauty and Archer.  That's life in nature, though.  I hope she is thriving somewhere.  In a perfect world, she will have met up with Kaver again and once again they are producing awesome eyases.  That's what I choose to believe.

Well, there have been quite a few unbanded birds lately...I choose to believe they are offspring of birds we know  Wink

So while I was looking for Joyce's newest album I ran into these photos of Mariah from 10/24/2009 at the Medley Center...

If Pigott has eyases this year, I'm betting there's absolutely no chance that they will be banded, even though both of their parents are banded.  Am I right?  There's no obscure law that says eyases of banded parents have to be banded if their whereabouts is known and reachable, and the owner of the property has to give access for the banding, is there?  I think I'm just hoping against hope.

There is no requirement that they be banded in the nest. Most inaccessible scrapes go with a band if/when they come to ground after fledging. And if they never come to ground, oh well.

That said, if there are eyases DEC might be more pro-active with the owners rather than the current wait & see policy.
