What does all this stooping and aggression mean? Is it Dot.Ca back and showing aggression and when was UT last seen? Was it yesterday afternoon? I wish we knew. UT was last seen at the nest box just before 4 PM yesterday.

After the way they behaved last year, I often wonder how they would greet each other in 2013.
I think it may be a Canadian bird probably banded same year or similar location, unless DC was the only male with the letter Y.
LOTS of */Y...Kendal and I would guess all his same year brothers...all of Rhea Mae's boys 2009 & 2010...Linn's 2011 boys...and those are just the ones I have on the family tree...

I know this probably isn't funny...but at first glance when I saw that shot of Beauty and her stance and face...my first thought was she was looking like 'oh crap he's back'. Just trying to find something to smile about; hopefully tomorrow will see all Rochester falcons safe and sound. Thanks to MAK and Carol for going back out there! You guys rock!

After checking the markings, in my opinion this is not Dot.ca. This tiercel does not have the distinctive white above the cere.
And I'm reserving judgement. His head is moving in the one main cam shot, so the white cere could be obscured. There were times last year I did a double take because it wasn't clearly apparent.

Me too...DC, son of Jack, a very capable male with great bloodlines that should be carried on! We need more than one little Dotca out there!
Indeed! We must really keep in mind that this isn't about who WE like. Or who we think they like or don't like. It's about who will be the mate who will be most likely to produce healthy offspring. Orion hatched and thrived in a not at all ideal situation. Says a LOT about both parents.

3 owlets!
March 17 – 6:20 AM CDT – Egg no. 3 has hatched. Also, the hatchlings should eat well this coming day, because Mme. Owl has cached not only the mouse I delivered to the nest box, but one of the geckos her mate supplied.
March 16 – Time Unknown – Egg no. 2 hatched. That happend sometime during the night of March 16/17, but on which side of midnight I can’t say yet. Details to be determined.

We have an owlet! And the next is on its way!
March 16 – 7:27 PM CDT – Sunset is officially at 7:41 PM CDT, and Mme. Owl will be out of the box for a little while at some point afterward (as soon as it is reasonably dark, perhaps at 8:05 PM CDT, which is evening civil twilight), so viewers watching the time-lapse views (the attic view ought to be best) will have a good chance of spotting owlet no. 1.
5:20 PM CDT – Egg no. 1 has hatched successfully, and a hole has appeared in egg no. 2.
2:48 PM CDT – All four eggs are still intact. That is not a problem, however; hatching can take 24 hours. All the same, if egg no. 1 hasn’t hatched by sundown when Mme. Owl takes her constitutional, I’ll probably bring the box down to get a direct look at the situation, re-weigh the eggs, etc.
