JUST   3    MORE DAYS!

for those of us who don't want to get up in the middle of the night.  how about picking another hour such as 10-12pm or 6-8am.

We understand that not everyone can contribute at that hour. Please give whenever you can. We appreciate all donations.

The 12-2am EST time slot seems to be the best choice so far. While 10-12pm or 6-8am would be much more convenient for most people here, it would also be more convenient for people who would be giving to the bigger charities. The dozens of Rfalconcam supporters online at these times would be no match for the hundreds of supporters donating to a big charity.

OK, so most of us will figure out a way to donate between 12 midnight & 2 AM EST. How about we set an alternate, not-middle-of-the-night target for those not able to do middle of the night? Not as likely to win the challenge then, but better than not trying at all

I was thinking either 10AM-12 noon or 2PM-4PM. I know in my life I'm usually scrambling to get X done before lunch or Y done before I leave work for the day, so they might be less busy times.

And here is BB at UB, University of Buffalo, sitting on the perch.  I am not sure if Yankee has left but we haven't seen him lately.

Bonding in the nest today; BB and Yankee, I hope. One left, and the other went out on the perch briefly.

           

I don't have Yankee's band number handy, but he is Canadian & that is a Canadian band...looks like 4?/Y.

We half expected to find a third egg on Saturday, but it wasn't to be.I'm not sure if these eggs will be viable. We noticed very little copulating and frantic activity which is usually evident at this stage of the pre-breeding season.For the moment, we have decided not to turn the webcam back on, until we know for sure that there is a family with chicks to watch. A lesson that I have learned these past few months is that it is heart-breaking watching PPO sit faithfully on eggs that we all knew were not viable (and ended up not being fertilised). We will spare any angst and only switch the camera back on when the right time comes.Will let you know what happens!]

OMG! This is their second clutch. The first failed & the homeowners removed the eggs...

Second nesting attempt for PPO
PPO is nesting again. She started with an egg last Monday, and a second egg on Wednesday. We half expected to find a third egg on Saturday, but it wasn't to be.

The one thing that has stuck with me all this time is how they all took off together.  Not like starlings and grackles go in a stream...pretty quickly but there's still a leader. It was like someone flipped a switch...they all just rose up and they were gone...poof!
