I'm so sorry, I don't know Scarborough at all and it never occurred to me it would be so close to them as it's so big out there.  I would never have posted it here if I had known as I know how much Linn means to you.  I emailed Tracy too, I'm sure they will look out for them - they always do.

Don't apologize! I can only speak for myself, but I'd rather know, even if the news is worrisome, than to not know at all!  I have faith Linn & Reuben will be OK...and the gyrfalcon too.

Well crap, it's only 1 mile in distance according to Google Maps.  I am going to email Frank.

Thanks. I remembered Linn was first seen at the Bell building hack box, just wasn't sure how close it is to Yellow Pages.

November 12, 2012 - International, National and Local News
Frank Butson Reports:
It has some local competition, with a Coopers Hawk that hunts the same pigeons, a local Redtailed Hawk that hunts  the hydro field just north of the plaza and apparently a Peregrine Falcon who it had a tussle with on Sunday afternoon.

Isn't this Linn's neighborhood?

I am so sorry to hear this news, Nora.

She was a very special lady...I loved her stories of the pigeon family on the balcony...she will be missed.

I managed to get him untangled without losing half my arm. He did need a bit of a massage...his leg was cramped. And he hid the rest of the night...spent about an hour getting up & checking on him.

Back to normal now!

Mommy and Daddy fairy-wrens sing "food passwords" to teach their eggs to sing

Xeni Jardin at 3:06 pm Thu, Nov 8
"Superb fairy-wren (Malurus cyaneus) mothers sing to their unhatched eggs to teach the embryo inside a 'password' — a single unique note — which the nestlings must later incorporate into their begging calls if they want to get fed."

Zoë Corbyn in Scientific American, on a very unusual example of avian communication.
