I'd love to know Beauty's reason for not feeding this baby all day. She is still very much on guard. They snuck up on her...they stole her baby...baby came back but her eggs are still missing... While I can't begin to think like a mother bird, it does seem to me that guarding against further intruders is taking priority in her mind. We know they aren't coming back, but she doesn't. Just my thoughts. There was no reason not to feed him before the banding-that wasn't until almost noon. She's been feeding him early AM. It was so hot today-always the fear of dehydration. Thinking like the human that I am, she might have made a different choice this morning if she knew the rest of the day was going to be taken up with nest defense. But she's a bird-who knows why they do or don't do things at the exact same time every day. Maybe the prey birds slept in this morning for whatever reason. I have to have faith that Beauty knows how to raise a baby bird. Maybe she thought he ate the eggs and didn't need anymore to eat! Lol! Friday the 13th certainly wasn't a good day for this baby! And that he ate all the nestover scraps that the banders took out-there was a lot of "good" food there

This story is quoted from The Rescued Raccoon Who Is About To Make Your Day
This story starts off incredibly sad: this raccoon was found in the under-cabin of a boat at an impounded marina, in a filthy cage full of rotten food where he had been living since he was a baby. Harbor was left 80% blind due to his poor nutrition and lack of sunlight, and he was turned over to rehabilitator, MaryEllen Schoeman, who named him Harbor. In his new home, Harbor didn't just recover well enough to survive, he found a boundless exuberance and a love of life that should inspire us all. http://youtu.be/uOtT_wopdcASchoeman determined that it would be some time, if ever, before Harbor could be released back into the wild, so she built him this outdoor enclosure. "I was astounded, and continue to be, at his utterly incredible capacity for joy. He plays, ecstatically, with anything at hand, and accepts everything that comes into his life with an open heart." http://youtu.be/XU5WAkPM5Fg"I have worked with raccoons for many years, and I can honestly say that I have never encountered one who greets each day with such happiness, and who loves so fully and so deeply. He loves his pool, his toys and every single person he meets." -MaryEllen Schoeman More videos at Mary Ellen's Youtube channel

http://youtu.be/fo5OfvqSlKUyaaaaay, new RonRon video!!! Poor summer foxie has shed out all the winter undercoat, and is left with the typical scrawny summer fox look, with short new fur close to the skin, and old longer thinned out hairs left from last winter, until they fall out one by one. I luff coming home to my foxie, always so happy to see me, running around like this, and then throwing himself at my feet, for scritchings xD Here, I get his eeeears really good.... I LOVE THOSE EARS!!!
