Baby Bear Quadruplets

When Zoo Sauvage's twelve year old mama Black Bear emerged from the den after hibernation this spring, she brought a surprise… or four. Bear cub quadruplets are rare and usually reflect a healthy mother who is larger than your average bear - this she-bear fits the bill. Zoo Sauvage de St-Félicien's Black Bears live in an open 824 acre habitat called Nature Trail Park.

I think it is on the west side of the bridge.  I found out a few years ago, but forgot. I have been under that bridge several times on the Half Moon Ship Replica and I have pictures somewhere. I'm usually cooking in the galley when we go under. I'll check, though.
Thanks for checking. I asked the walkway help people and they looked at me like I had 10 heads.

Can you please post an example of the proper standard date/time format? I know that I rename any images I save so that I know what they are. I would gladly copy and restore the original file names of my files if I was certain of their format.

Date and time are on each picture if they haven't been cropped.

The naming syntax can also be reviewed on any photo in the archive

What if we have it on our backups?  Just brainstorming here!

That's what Shaky is looking for-someone to gather all the stuff we all have saved on our own to one place, named properly, so he can put it back in the archive.

First I have no clue how to even start that!  But-If everything is saved everyday onto an backup site-can everything be retrieved from there?

Lynne

I believe that's the problem-we thought it was but that particular span of time seems to have gone missing.  So the plan is to recreate as much of the missing photo archive as we can.

3 again this year.

HIGHLAND – For the 16th year in a row, the Mid-Hudson Bridge between Poughkeepsie and Highland is home to newly hatched Peregrine Falcons.

“It’s an annual tradition,” New York State Bridge Authority Executive Director Joseph Ruggiero said Friday.

These are the 42nd, 43rd and 44th Peregrine Falcons fledged from the nesting box on the bridge. There are nesting boxes on all five of the Authority’s Hudson River vehicle crossings, installed in the late 1980s as part of the effort to re-establish the Peregrine in the Hudson Valley. Those birds are listed as an endangered species.

The Authority partners with the state Department of Environmental Conservation to provide the public with live snapshots of the Peregrine nest. The webcam is at http://www.dec.ny.gov/animals/53052.html. The live-shot is updated every 10 minutes.

One of the frustrations of my existence.  I live 30 minutes from this bridge. The only people who know where on the bridge this nest box is located are the DEC & the NYS Bridge Authority-and they're not talking. I just want to know which side of the river to look from.  I've looked from the walkway bridge that's parallel to the Mid Hudson-nothing.  There's a plaque that says they nest on the Mid Hudson-but no clue where.  I even had a friend with a boat look when they were under the bridge last summer.  Not a hint. No Audubon society around here either.

And the webcam is stuck. Again.

This is why I love Rochester.
9429  Anything Else / Totally OT / Re: Have you backed up your computer lately? on: 12-May-12, 02:43:55 PM
68% complete to my Western Digital 2 TB external drive-the full treatment includes a system image. I back up critical files (read-pictures) weekly to the same device.  I got it on sale a year or so ago at Best Buy-probably spent $150.

The pictures are backed up using Picasa.  The full system backup I just use Windows backup.  I've often thought of looking at a different program, but never seem to get around to it.  I'm limited in offsite options due to lack of high speed connection.  Someday they will bring fiber into my neighborhood.  I will not pay another stinking dime to the cable monopoly here...

This week's forum disaster reminded me I was due for a full backup.  Just sharing the reminder...  nerd

I hope this helps. Best of luck to everyone working on this problem, especially Shaky for being the forum-face of all those efforts. bow
WOW Thanks Ezsha. I found all the messages there ! I think we have it all back!!! thanks2 good post

They aren't all full posts, unfortunately, and Shaky said Yahoo had a glitch too and some stuff wasn't copied over.  But you are absolutely correct-all is not completely lost.  While it's far from ideal, between the dailies and Yahoo and our friends at BCAW we should be able to put a reasonable amount of the missing information together.
