Many thanks to all of you who helped with my questions. I didn't realize you were not allowed to talk about Pigott's site. Does that mean any eyasses there would never be reported to the forum? Or rescued if they come to the ground as fledglings in need of help? That's very sad.

I am confused and hardly know where to start with the questions. stupid I know they boarded up Pigott's scrape with the broken glass, but now where is the cubby you all refer to? Is it suitable for nesting? And has Beauty been copulating with both Dot.ca and the newly arrived unbanded tiercel? And did she not also copulate with the UT who was around before DC came back from migration? If Beauty lays eggs, how will anyone know who the male parent is?  Maybe this is one way of broadening the gene pool for peregrines but it might make a real mess of the family tree. Wink

Thanks so much for answering my question about Pigott's nest spot. There have been so many falcons lately that I can't keep them straight half the time.

What kind of setup does Pigott have at her site? Last year I vaguely remember eggs lying on pigeon poop. Is it a reasonably suitable place for a scrape?

Isn't it odd for a tiercel to be attacking Beauty? I would have thought she'd be chased and swooped on by either another female or a tandem male/female combination.

Lou, I am so very pleased to see your photos again.  They're all lovely but my favorite was the heron with the fish in his beak.  thanx

Kris had trouble with the link but when I copied and pasted it into my browser, it worked just fine.

Very cute, but does anyone know if the parents ever took over the baby's care and feeding?  Were the hiccups caused because it wasn't accustomed to taking water that way?

thanx These were wonderful! My favorite was the flicker shot that highlighted the lovely color under the wings. I enjoyed seeing that many of them were taken by ordinary people, not professional photographers.  Some of you on the list should seriously consider submitting a couple of your own photos for the 2013 contest.

I had no idea that an eagle would go that far under water after prey. Poor mallard, happy eagle.
