Well, Donna, you should definitely be proud of all those posts, since they allow the rest of us to see what's happening and / or they contain fascinating info from other sites. You also help non-computer-savvy people like me to post, and that's greatly appreciated. Keep up the good work! Dot in PA Hot Dang, that's breaks down to 3,125 posts a year since 2009! I've been busy!! Thanks, and yes, I'm proud of it, I think, or maybe not, depends how you look at it! (We have great subjects to post about) here they are, I found them at 6:40 together

Lucky eagle! I wish there were some sort of special award for caring people like Chipman and Meaney. Dot in PA I thought that was a really good rescue by the lobster fishermen, John Chipman Jr. and Kevin Meaney. The article I read had some different photos and a short video of the eagle. In the article, sternman Kevin Meaney commented: βI took the cover off the bait tank and tied it on [to the life ring], and made him a little life raft, He got right on it,β Meaney said. βI kind of reached down, patted the top of his head, and told him it would be all right.βAnd at the end of the article he says: βIt was the most incredible thing that ever happened to me,β Meaney said. βTo me, that was worth well more than hitting the lottery.βI wish there were a lot more people like John Chipman Jr. and Kevin Meaney. http://outthere.bangordailynews.com/2017/07/31/outdoor-recreation/maine-lobstermen-rescue-eagle-they-found-swimming-in-the-ocean/

Other Nature Related Information / General Nature Discussion / Re: Injured bald eagle to undergo skin graft surgery

Thanks, Alison, for the additional info. Best wishes to this eagle - it has to be really painful. Dot in PA Poor guy. Hope the feather graft is successful, allowing him to survive in the wild. Wonder how this odd injury occurred. Dot in PA The plastic surgeon, Dr. Stice, determined that his injury was caused by an electrical burn of some kind, which not only destroyed the skin and tissue on the top of his head, but also two layers of bone. This poor eagle has been through so much. He is now out of surgery. This small update was posted two hours ago: OMAHA, Neb. β
A bald eagle that was found injured on Memorial Day underwent surgery Friday.
The eagle, injured in June, was rescued by Fontenelle Forest's Raptor Recovery Center.
The animal is recovering from surgery at the Henry Doorly Zoo.
Doctors said the animal suffered an electrical burn on the top of its head. Surgeons and veterinarians removed the charred bone and completed a skin graft.
"So, Dr. Shrader took feathers and skin from the eagle's groin and fashioned it in the shape of the wound on his head, and we sewed it to the top of his head," Dr. Coleen Stice said.http://www.ketv.com/article/bald-eagle-burned-recovering-from-skin-graft-surgery/11549206There are also updates on the Fontenelle Forest Raptor Recovery site, with question and answer videos with Dr. Stice. I can see the videos, but for some reason the sound is distorted and unintelligible. Not sure why. https://www.facebook.com/fontenelleforest/I hope everything goes well for the eagle's recovery. Just glad that people have been willing to help him.
