Post the tinypic link here, and I will make it your avatar.

Thank you Shaky!  Much appreciated!

I'm seeing the image in the link as your current avatar -- a juvie on a corner of the building with its wings outstretched at the 1 and 11 o'clock positions. (Is everyone else seeing this?) If you're not seeing this as your avatar, clear your browser cache if you know how or simply quit and restart your web browser.

Yes, that is what I'm seeing.

You never know Pat.  This is the season for migrants to start flowing through the area, including all the youngsters that hatched this year.  I think the watchers will be very busy this fall/winter!   happy

Billy or Billie or Billey.  However her name is spelled, I'm just happy that she's being seen again.  So happy that a Mariah and Kaver grandkid is doing so well.  Could M&K great grandkids be in our future here in Rochester?  You know that we'll be watching.  clap thumbsup 2thumbsup

Just so there is no confusion.  There are two different locations being discussed here.  The original post is mine about a female Peregrine Falcon seen at the BS location on Monday afternoon.  The 2nd location being discussed is about a 2nd falcon being seen at the ST location today reported by MAK & Joyce.  Both females, but we do not believe that they are the same bird.

Neither have been positively ID'd.

A visitor at the BS Location – Pigott’s Old Territory

Monday Afternoon – August 18, 2014

Kathy O reported that she had a falcon at the BS location.  I joined her there and we both watched a falcon flying over the building.  We caught up with falcon on the south side of the building on the corner just above the vent.  It was time to get out the scope.

Joyce had been downtown with a falcon on the jail tower.  She first thought it was Beauty, but later verified that it was Dot.ca.

This falcon was definitely a female based on size.  She had a very dark helmet, flat head and salmon colored chest.  She looked a lot like Beauty, but with subtle differences. One being the two thin white stripes that radiated from her nostrils up over her forehead.  She was gorgeous, but aren’t they all!

Bobby, a young man who told us he and his class used to watch the falcons on the Kodak Birdcam, stopped by.  He was thrilled to see the falcon close up through the scope.  We could see that she was banded with a black over green band and a silver band, but we couldn’t read the numbers on the green/black band.  Joyce took lots of pics, but was also unable to see the numbers.

Joyce sent the pictures to MAK for her opinion.  We all believe that this falcon was not Beauty.  That she was a visitor, possibly passing through on her migration.

You can bet that the Rochester Falcon Watchers will be out there to try to ID this falcon, if she returns.

Stay tuned!

I hope to be able to post some of Joyce's pics tonight.  My computer has been acting up.   Sad

Well, you'll just need to come visit again sometime to see all our critters.  You would love the massive beaver we've been seeing cruising on the river below the pedestrian bridge.  How s/he gets so big on just salad is beyond me.   wave

I thought of you this weekend Dale, as I always do, when I see that most foreign creature, the groundhog, sauntering across the end of the pedestrian bridge.  Not once, not twice, but three times!  Back and forth, going about its business.  Whatever that might have been.  It seemed to be content and so were the watchers watching it.  So good to hear from you my friend.  Miss you.

4590  Rochester Falcons / Falcon Watches / The Eagle and the Falcons from Sunday's Fledge Watch on: 12-Aug-14, 02:39:29 PM
The eagle and the falcons….From Sunday's (8/10) Fledge Watch by Carol P.

On Sunday, a young eagle flew over downtown.  Beauty and Dot.ca rose above the eagle and took turns stooping on it.  The eagle went into defense mode, talons up and full barrel rolls.  The falcons were relentless.  This was their territory and their young were below.  They could not allow a dangerous predator to remain in their city.

The battle seemed to go on for a very long time.  The eagle was confused and obviously had no idea what direction to take.  The Peregrines weren't giving up.

As the trio headed southeast, a third falcon joined in.  Now there were three falcons escorting the eagle out of their territory.  One of the young males, Nor’easter or Mercury had joined in and took his turn stooping on the eagle alongside his parents.

Finally, the eagle left the falcon’s territory heading south and all three Peregrine’s broke off the attack.  But, the young tiercel had other ideas.  He wasn’t ready to quit.  This was way too much fun!  The watchers on the pedestrian bridge who had witnessed this amazing encounter between Peregrine and Bald Eagle were amused when the young male started to stoop on his parents!

I could just imagine Beauty telling her young son to please practice on his father.   laugh
