One of Louisville's expert birders invited folks to come to his family farm a few years back when conditions were perfect for watching birds migrating across the moon. There had to be a full moon during peak fall migration, and the moon had to be low on the horizon during a reasonable time of the evening. We sat in lawn chairs with our scopes pointed at the full moon, watching the birds that were visible against its bright face. This guy is enough of an expert that he could identify many of the birds just from their silhouettes...I didn't have a clue!
That is so cool Patti! Must be wonderful to see.

I don't know other than Rochester, NY, but a beautiful picture. ??? Who used to take great hawk pictures in a cemetery, it was a long time ago. I've been down here 4 1/2 years already and think I still lived in MN.
Lou took the hawk pictures in Mt. Hope Cemetery. I remember the ones from Lou, but I was thinking a gal took some before that and am drawing a total blank on her name. Nancy something MAYBE? I don't recall those... It was Nan G. I run into every so often.

Maybe Orion will run into those 2 girls from Buffalo and have some 'singing' partners to travel the world with Pefas are not song birds. "Use what talents you possess: the woods would be very silent if no birds sang there except those that sang best." Henry Van Dyke [hmmm...may have found a tag line...] Pefas may not be song birds and they may not normally live in the woods, but they sure do add a most wonderful sound to the sky above us for all who choose to enjoy. The cry of a young Peregrine, no longer heard by those listening, is a loss to us all.
