OK...so I return to work to both all my work that didn't get done Thurs & Fri as well as the work of someone who's on vacation this week...might as well set up a cot here...

Only one picture is ready to share so far...

...a hug from Barf!

Beautiful picture of Barf!  Thanks for sharing Ei!

Howdy all! Haven't tuned in in awhile, as super-busy at work, but nice to read Mark's report that Harlequin is now out of the danger period. Certainly as evidenced right now, she is flying beautifully, circling about in the sky above the buildings here! Walking into work this morning, I could hear her vocalizing, so must have been close to breakfast time! Yesterday I witnessed a feeding with Quest: both of them crammed onto one of those little square posts that juts out from the nest building. Harlequin seems to prefer sitting on these to the proper ledges, from what I've noticed. Hmm.

In any regard, I've been seeing lots of aerial action around here. Yesterday both Harlequin and Quest flew toward my window and swooped upward right in front of me: breathtaking! Loving having this little family nearby: certainly makes the workday much more fun!

I know that feeling well Kat, and miss it so much.  Thanks for telling us about how well Harlequin, Quest and Kendal are doing.   wave

!!! Kate had been rescued again, this time from a park bench in downtown Toronto!
July 18, 2011 - Toronto - Sheraton Centre
Mark Nash Reports:
Sunday July 17th - 2011

A quickly update. We received news that little Kate from the downtown Sheraton hotel nest site has once again been rescued (or should I say simply picked up) at street level, this time from a downtown park bench by Toronto animal services.

While the initial reports would indicate that she does not seem to be injured at all, this is quite odd,, (and the second time that she has simply come to the ground and been able to be retrieved without a scuffle).

Kate is far too complacent about the situation, and further examination is necessary!
She has been taken to the Toronto Wildlife Centre for further evaluation and we will report on her status as soon as she is further examined more carefully.

Stay tuned…….

Poor Kate.  She definitely needs to be checked over more carefully.  Could be something going on that isn't visible in a quick examination.  Be well young one.   wub2

Hi gang!  I'm home in one piece...a bit longer than usual due to some nig-nogs on the road doing 50 in formation and a few errands on the way home...

Neither cat seems particularly ticked at me, so that's excellent news!

What a great weekend!  A gazillion pictures which will have to wait for my arms to stop vibrating  Wink Saw babies, even if they weren't "ours", just flying for the joy of flying-my favorite part!  And, of course, the real reason, to spend time with friends!  flowers

So glad you made it home safely Ei!  It was wonderful seeing you again.  It was great fun.   clap

I am planning on driving to Buffalo/Niagara Falls on Saturday to take Ei to see the falcons in the area. We'll make the rounds to as many sites as we can. The juvies are spreading out and not easy to spot them near their nesting areas.  Hopefully we'll get to see some play, talon tagging or at least a food exchange with the Central Terminal juvies.

Everyone knows I am not a morning person...but I plan to be up early to head to Buffalo. Place your bets ladies and gentlemen, I want to be on the road by 8:00am. If anyone would like to join us, please let me know. There's room for two more.

Someone mentioned getting together for dinner Saturday evening. If plans are being formulated, I'll flex with getting back to Rochester to meet-up.

We were hoping to get more Rochester Falcon Watchers to go to Buffalo tomorrow, but only Dana and I were able to.  and you know us, we ARE the early birds!  We plan on leaving at 6 am, grabbing an Egg McMuffin and a cup of coffee ane be on our way.  Hope some of you will be able to join us (Ei, Joyce, Dana and I).

I'll have my walkie talkies with me.

Marvelous pictures. Thank you for sharing.

Question just what do you think Beauty did wrong? The eggs weren't fertile.  confused

Beauty did nothing wrong.  It was just the circumstances.

So far it seems that we Harlequin employees haven't been needed for the official fledge watch and it seems that Harlequin is such a fast learner, with terrific parents, that I may never have to use my towel swishing skills to pick her up off the ground! Wink

No matter whether you would be needed for the offical fledge watch, I am sure all of us really appreciate yours and your fellow Harlequin employees efforts  thumbsup in taking part.
It is great to have you here to give us first hand info, especially for the benefit of those of us who so much would like to be there for a longer period of them but can't.

Welcome to the Forum WW!!   wave

Have fun everyone!

As always, beautiful, and moving, pictures,  Thank you, Dana.
Did Diamond and her  unbanded? male self-select this site?  This is a natural ledge, and not a nest box  that was  in place to attract falcons?  Is that correct?
A beautiful setting, but these little butterballs are late aren't they?   When will they fledge?
I know they were moved, but am unsure of WHY they were moved?

Hey Margaret.  Sage told Dana and I that where the eyases were moved to, is the old nest site that the Tiercel used before.  When Diamond arrived last year, she didn't like that spot and chose a new one.  It is a beautiful setting to Watch from Terrapin Point.

Due to work & previous plans, I won't be able to join in on the fun on Friday.  Hopefully Saturday.  Let me know what's being planned.

Glad you're able to still make it to Rochester Ei!   happy
