Well, Brian didn't call me.  I actually texted him to see if he wanted to go out for a couple hours.

Thankfully, all was Peaceful and Quiet.

A very Happy Easter.   clap

Now that made me cry!  Tears of happiness!   crying

I am so glad that Quest is going into momma-mode.  Kendal will catch on quick.  Remember Archer when the first egg hatched?  He just looked and circled and looked and wondered how his red little egg turned into a squirmy white creature that shouted at him.   laugh

It's a flood here too Carol and it didn't rain!  crying

Hahahaha!  We may need to build an ark.   Wink

and I don't want to forget my other favorite CPF Watcher Linda W, who keeps watch over Quest's sister, Rhea Mae.

Mark spoke to Joyce this a.m., because he really wanted us to pass on the word that a nest tray had been installed for Quest and Kendal.

Some very good news for a Good Friday!  The Canadian Peregrine Foundation reports that the Ministry of Natural Resources accepted CPF's plan to install a nest tray for Quest & Kendal.  The egg laid yesterday by Quest was placed in the nest tray.  It didn't take long for Quest to go to her new nest tray.  She was seen standing over the egg by CPF volunteers.

This is excellent news and we thank the Ministry of Natural Resources and the Canadian Peregrine Foundation for all they have done.   clap thumbsup heart

When Quest was on her travels, it brought out some very original dittys.

Can you guess who wrote this one?

The Gannet was down on its luck; it
Decided to chill at Nantucket;
Quest did more than duck it;
She stooped down and struck it;
Then flew to her lighthouse to pluck it

Quest was the BIG girl that year.  I even wrote that on the name chart during banding.   lol

Egg #2 for Quest and Kendal has arrived!  WooHoo!!!!

 the_wave duck hatch1

It happened around 3:52 pm.  Thanks Kathryn for keeping Watch over our girl and her mate.   clap

I do believe that they were going to install the nest tray this afternoon.  I'm sure we'll get news soon.

yahoo I am just over the top HAPPY about Quest and her new life in Toronto! I look forward to seeing her soon and meeting the folks at Harlequin. I do hope they get a nest tray of some sort for her and Kendal.  heart  Grin

If they put up something like that this year isn't there a chance it would chase Quest away to another spot? Even with an egg there? Or are you talking about for next year?

Whenever the powers to be think is best!

Sounds like they're planning on putting up a tray now.  We just have to trust the CPF to make the right choices-I agree MAK-they will do what they think is best.

The article said they would have tried today, but the bad weather stopped them.  Now that the first egg is gone, it's the perfect time to put up a nest tray.  Hopefully this will be more to Quest and Kendal's liking.
6868  Rochester Falcons / Rochester Falcon Offspring / Re: Quest's new CPF page on: 20-Apr-11, 06:40:22 PM
Oh, boy.  I really hate to report this.  You all know that I have been in contact with some very nice folks from Harlequin since Quest made her appearance.

I just read the newest article, and it looks like what Mark said in the article was proven correct.  I truly hate to be the bearer of bad news, but at approximately 3:50 pm, Quest was seen pushing her egg off of the ledge.  This is so sad, but maybe, in the long run, it's for the best.  I hope that Mark is able to get the nest tray out onto the ledge tomorrow, before she attempts to lay her 2nd egg.

First time parents of any species can have a hard time and Peregrines are no exception.

I really do believe that she will continue to lay eggs and that she & Kendal will be successful.   heart

Pic #1 in MAK's album is the ORB (Orange Railing Bldg).  The Pigeon Box is not part of the ORB, it is a large, hollow square structure at the east end of the large chute that starts at the blue bldg and stretches east to the Pigeon Box.  The Pigeon Box is hollow and if you look up inside, you can see I-Beams stretching from one side to the other.  We see Pigeons flying up inside this square structure all the time.  I'm sure they considered this a safe haven from you know who.  One day I saw Lady Pefa fly up there and when I checked it out with the scope, I could see her tail hanging down.  She was sitting on one of the I-Beams.

She may be using this, #1 - to get out of the weather (kind of like M&K and A&B use the elevator shaft on the OCSR) and/or #2 - to grab unsuspecting Pigeons as they fly up into their Box, unaware that there is a Pefa in their midst!

I will be holding a class soon on how to keep track of these highly technical names for the buildings/structures at Kodak Park.   rofl

Geesh - I thought I had it down...and I screwed up too.  No wonder Margaret is confused. I corrected the other post in case anyone else reads it.

Attached is a photo ID...did I get it right?

Yes, Good Job!   clap

I'm disappointed that he's still going over there.  Poor Beauty. Sad

Poor Lady Pefa.
