Why would we go to Toronto. It's not like there's anything to see there. We're talking about it. I've been in contact with the Harlequin ladies and they are ecstatic to have Quest and Kendal nesting near by. Quest's new CPF page is now under Toronto - Don Mills. We can follow the adventures of her Harlequinesque romance with Kendal, of Toronto origin. A link in their Harlequin article (click on highlighted Quest) points to the defunct marchlords.com website. I don't know what the new one is, but is there any way to contact them and have it updated? Thanks to the moderator who moved this message here! ezsha Carol, and when are you and the crew leaving for Toronto?

Pic #1 in MAK's album is the ORB (Orange Railing Bldg). The Pigeon Box is not part of the ORB, it is a large, hollow square structure at the east end of the large chute that starts at the blue bldg and stretches east to the Pigeon Box. The Pigeon Box is hollow and if you look up inside, you can see I-Beams stretching from one side to the other. We see Pigeons flying up inside this square structure all the time. I'm sure they considered this a safe haven from you know who. One day I saw Lady Pefa fly up there and when I checked it out with the scope, I could see her tail hanging down. She was sitting on one of the I-Beams. She may be using this, #1 - to get out of the weather (kind of like M&K and A&B use the elevator shaft on the OCSR) and/or #2 - to grab unsuspecting Pigeons as they fly up into their Box, unaware that there is a Pefa in their midst! I will be holding a class soon on how to keep track of these highly technical names for the buildings/structures at Kodak Park.

That's a very good question Margaret and I don't know the answer. It was definitely supposed to fall off after a couple years. We can only hope that it does now. That would be perfect timing! I wondered the same thing, Carol, about the transmitter...if it would hinder mating activity or not. If copulation has been seen, I guess it doesn't. My understanding of the transmitter is that it would fall off before this. It's going on three years. Is this a record for a transmitter being of a Pefa? It's been wonderful for us to be able to track Quest for these almost three years. Are there pefas out there wearing these backpacks for a longer time? Just curious.

and Shaky, Carrie, Kathy O and I were the first to track down this dynamic duo at the Pickering Power Plant last year when her transmitter readings first started coming from that area. I'm so happy she has finally settle down and found a mate. I'm especially happy that they moved away from the Pickering Power Plant! This is wonderful news. Now about copulation. Big Frank, you said that copulation was witnessed between our two love birds? I take it her transmitter did not hinder them??? We were wondering if it would. Time for it to fall off any way. Maybe with all this "ahem!" activity, it finally will.

OK, who knew but I took a lot of videos with my iphone and because I held the phone upright, all my videos came out sideways. Is their any way to flip them like you can with pics? I'm so mad at myself and I should have known with the pics coming out sideways. If there's no way to do this then I'll have a crick in my neck watching them. Thanks! Hi Donna - I'm sorry to say that I have no idea. Did you do a search on the website of your phone and check it out. Maybe they have an idea, or maybe you can ask them the question?

Kathy O joined me for a short Watch at KP. When we left at 7:15 pm, one Pefa was sitting at the corner of the nook on the Blue Bldg. Lousy weather, fog and rain.

Kathy O (downtown) reported immediately to Dana and I (at KP) when Archer left downtown. We clocked him at approximately 3 mins for the approx 5 mile trip! Yikes! Well, they are the fastest creature on the earth afterall! Very impressive! I agree with you, he is so cute. He reminds me of his grandfather. Archer is spending a good bit of time on the eggs; could this mean that he is not visiting LP at KP? Also, since both A and B are spending more time on eggs, is this considered "hard incubation" -- meaning there will not be any additional eggs? Wouldn't it be wonderful if there were lots of Archer's offspring flying the skies this summer?
Apparently he's made an evening visit to KP. At this point he'll do whatever needs doing at whichever site. Hard incubation is something of a judgment call best looked at in retrospect. My opinion is they've started incubation. Although there were a few hours of uncovered eggs, they've been mostly covered since last night. When they start incubating there's usually one more egg coming. Only time will tell.
