Breaking News! This just in from Brian H, Joyce and Kathy O. There are TWO Peregrines at Kodak Park. They've been standing in the pouring rain watching them for the past hour or so. Brian says that the Tiercel is very large and the female is REALLY big! Joyce will check her pics tonite to see if she got any pics of the bands. Stay tuned!

Aha! GOT IT! PURPLE PEOPLE EATER??? Close Bobbie. It's the Purple Pigeon Eater, our mystery purple banded Peregrine that's been hanging out at Kodak Park. Brian came up with that name.

It was either Yarak or Shaky. Ok, fess up! According to the BBC...
"A researcher has calculated the 2,000,000,000,000,000th digit of pi"
I was wondering when they would let us know...
He (probably a "he") is obviously not a member of a Falcon Forum.

Thought for Today
We could learn a lot from crayons...Some are sharp, some are pretty and some are dull. Some have weird names, and all are different colors, but they all have to live in the same box.
AND.... Some melt when the heat is put to them

Ok, I may have to walk around like this but I don't understand how they got stuck in the light. Is it that they are flying in it and don't know how to fly out? I don't know how thick the light is so no sure how they wouldn't fly in light and darkness Not sure what happened with these lights. But when I was at the first Bill's Superbowl way back when in Tampa, Florida, they released doves at one point from the field. It was dark outside the stadium lights and the doves flew around confused, landing on people that were watching the game. Most, if not all would not fly out of the stadium into the darkness. Many of them ended up on the light towers, hopefully to fly off safely at first light. I really felt bad for them and angry at the idiots (my opinion) that released them at night in a lighted stadium.

A quick update from last night's watch. I joined Brian H on the Broad St Bridge and we were soon joined by Kathy O, Larry O & Cleo. Beauty was our only Falcon sighting last night. Archer was no where to be found. It's getting dark really early now, so we were all getting ready to leave around 7:30 pm. Brian and I crossed over to the north side of the bridge and Brian yelled out that there was a Green Heron on the river below. Cool! We all came over for a look and saw that it was an adult Black Crowned Night Heron (BCNH), not a Green! WooHoo! Life bird for me. We all got good looks at this beautiful bird as she hunted below us, in the fading light. All of a sudden a juvenile BCNH flew up to the adult and landed next to her. Mom (I think) was off to another section of the river. The juvie looked around and before long, flew over to the adult and buzzed her. This "play" continued for about 10 mins before both flew around, over the river and under the Broad St. bridge. That was definitely the highlight of last night's watch for me. This was the first time Kathy, Larry and I saw these beautiful birds and to see an adult and juvie together was incredible.
