I'll say it's a Blue-winged Teal.

I agree, plus it looks suspiciously like a duck-like creature.  2funny

Her beak opened wide and HACK!, HACK!, HACK!, HACK!  On the 5th HACK! a large, gray shapeless lump fell from her beak.  I watched as it fell over the ledge to the playpen below.  Well, that was fun!  Hahahahaha!

You just see it all huh Carol? Right place, right time!

I love to study their behavour.  I could sit for hours just watching them.   happy

The more you watch different birds, the more you notice similar behavours.  Fascinating!

If I lived in Rochester, I'd get a job as a Street Cleaner. That way I'd be out all day, (not doing my job), just watching Falcons. Probably that job wouldn't last long.

Before the condos were built in the old Kodak visitor's parking lot across from the Kodak Tower, I always wanted to be the guard that worked there.  He had a little guard shack, totally surrounded by glass and it was heated!  I would have been happy to talk to the visitor's and watch M&K on the tower all day long.   happy

I forget his name, but he was definitely a fan and would talk to us about the falcons, always asking how they were doing.  He would feed the pigeons every morning.  I bet they miss him.

Speaking of Beauty hacking up a pellet.  happy

While Dana and I watched the Falcon on the Kodak Tower, I set up the scope to verify that it was indeed Beauty.  It's just that we don't see her there very often.

There she was, in all her glory.  Black/Green and Silver bands glistening in the sun.  This gorgeous, creature filled up the whole view through the scope.  She was preening, pulling out small tufts of soft downy fluff that stuck to her beak.  She would lean over and gracefully wipe it off.  I thought, how lucky were we to have Peregrines in Rochester.  That's when IT happened!

Beauty returned to her preening and stretching.

Saw the baby Koala on the news last night.  Poor little one.  I truly hope they are able to save him/her.   Sad

Count me in!  and no convincing needed.   laugh

How many fw'ers would be interested in getting together for a meal/drinks on Saturday, Nov 13th around 6:00 pm. Can be flexible. Just putting some thoughts out there for consideration.

I'm also suggesting Village Gate. They have a series of fine restaurants. I've enjoyed meals at both Selena's (Mexican) and The Gate House (char broil burgers/specialty pizza).

The one topic on the agenda would be 2 minutes devoted to convincing Carol P to bring brandy to the Broad St Bridge on Jan 1.

I was half joking, but the request for everyone to become voting machines and spend an additional hour or more each day voting could seem a bit odd to the casual observer.

I hope by next weekend she's not asking us to spend 8 hours a day voting.

Thought for Today

"The rich, sweet smell of the hayricks rose to his chamber window; the hundred perfumes of the little flower-garden beneath scented the air around; the deep-green meadows shone in the morning dew that glistened on every leaf as it trembled in the gentle air: and the birds sang as if every sparkling drop were a fountain of inspiration to them."
