I love that story. I have repeated it several times as an illustration of falcons training their young. I forgot that the second time the pigeon fell into the stadium!!! I would have loved to see that!
We had visions of a Red Wings fan taking their seat and finding a big surprise! I think you got a picture of Grissom on the light pole crying-I seem to recall spotting it while browsing for map pictures. Found it! Wow! You're good Ei! That picture brings back such nice memories. Thanks for posting it.

Grissom was such a tiny Tiercel. One day Mariah brought in a pigeon and Grissom came up to meet her to grab it. This happened over the Kodak parking lot on the south side. Two things were not in Grissom's favor that morning. Grissom was too small and the pigeon was too big. He dropped it in the parking lot and landed on a light pole above it, crying his little heart out. Mariah had landed on top of the ramp garage on the east side of State St. The parking lot of empty of cars thankfully.
She watched, she listened and took off! It was Watcher weekend and there were quite a few Watchers out early that morning. Mariah flew low over the parking lot, skimming the pavement. Her talons dropped and she grabbed the pigeon, gaining altitude, barely flapping her wings.
Mariah headed towards Frontier field, Grissom hot on her tail. She again passed the pigeon to Grissom, who then tried so very hard to hang onto it. It wasn't to be. He dropped the pigeon a 2nd time. This time it fell inside the Frontier Stadium. We could only imagine where it landed!
Grissom landed on a light pole in Parking Lot D, on the west side of Kodak Office and Mariah landed on Bldg 20. Grissom cried, Mariah watched. There was nothing she could do. The pigeon was lost to them.
Grissom then flew up to Mariah, crying, hungry. She was not happy. She actually chased him around kaking and then they both settled on one of the buildings.
Moral of this story? Pigeon too big for tiny Tiercel!

Quick Jemison update for today (7/5/10). I spoke to the rehabber this afternoon and was told that the XRays were put off until tomorrow (7/6/10. Nothing wrong with Jemison, it was just that the Vet was unable to do them today.
Gary told me that Jemison's wing was not drooping as badly as it had been when we first brought him in. He asked if I could come out for a quick visit to give my opinion. I said sure and asked if fellow Watcher Kathy O could accompany me. He said sure.
When Kathy and I arrived, we very briefly took a look at Jemison, who stared back at us intently. I definitely see improvement in the way the wing is positioned. The drooping of his right wing was very evident when we watched him on the north side of the Time Square bldg. This to me was a very positive sign (again my opinion only).
Jemison has been eating well on his own and drinking.
So, we have to wait for the results of the XRays tomorrow. I hope Jemison is ok and will be able to return to his family soon.

Please continue to post Donna. Just wanted everyone reading the posts to know that there were alot of very dedicated Watchers out and about this morning, braving the heat, trying to find Callidora. Let's see there were, Dan S, MAK, Joyce, Brian H, Kathy O, Jeanne, Suzanne and Don, Larry O, Jim P, Jim D, Dana, Lou, Lisa McK..............lots of Watchers! Thanks to all! Oh I didn't mean it that way Carol, I know there were lots out watching. I just meant thanks Joyce for letting MAK use her phone. I think I'll let you guys handle the sightings and I'll just watch, like I always did. Maybe just post MAK's early am sightings.
