Joyce look under Rochester falcon discussion at pics from MAK morning watch 10-22-10. Donna posted them for me. The snowman is with them.

I can't quite find it on google either.  Any idea the cross streets, MAK?

It's the building on the corner of Lawn and Chestnut. It has a famous fire escape on its south side.

The picture was taken from a position east of the building looking west. Beauty is on the northeast corner of the building.

If you do a Google street view of the corner of Lawn and Broadway and look west, you will see the light building with the arched windows in the foreground. "Walk" west on Lawn, and look up. The northeast corner of Beauty's building will come into view.

The famous fire escape (or infamous) that Shaky is talking about, on the south side of this building, is where Brian and I first found Mariah when she had been injured on the ground below it.

Little known facts about Rhea Mae.  I considered naming her Mae Rhea instead of Rhea Mae, but it sounded too much like Mariah.   wave

Mark Nash calls her Ray May.   laugh

Back in 2007, I received an email.  Bad news about Rhea Mae.  She was in really bad shape at the Toronto Zoo's rehab center.  A really bad case of bumble foot.  I and the other Watchers were ready to drive up to Toronto ASAP.  Not that we could have done anything.  By the end of the day, I found out it had been a case of mistaken identity.  Thankfully it wasn't Rhea Mae, but another juvenile Peregrine, who very sadly passed away.   Sad

Rhea was the first Peregrine I had seen close up.  I was mesmerized.  She was sooooo gorgeous!  I had my picture taken with her that day.  She passed away of old age shortly after that.  I cherish that picture.

OK, here's my thought from 2006, as I watched Rhea Mae flying around the gorge, grabbing leaves and talon tagging with her sister and brother.

Do we know if Beauty was 1 of the 2? Did they just pass through?

Hey Donna - I have no idea if one of them was Beauty or not.  Too high to try to ID.  My first thought was at least one was a juvie.  This may have been the two that have been seen gracing Rochester's skyline the last week or so.  They were definitely having fun, riding the winds high above Xerox.  Both floated off to the north.  On my way home, I tried to find them but couldn't.

Put in my vote tonite.  Good luck with this Kris.

We have members in my church who are asking for people to help Lexie win this contest.  I thought that if our Forum group could help with this, she might have a good chance of winning. Any votes would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks!

Our great-niece Lexie was entered in a contest to try and win $1,000 for a theropedic trycicle that is not covered by insurance.  She was selected as one of ten finalists.  The finalist that gets the most votes wins.  The link to vote is below. We would appreciate your support and any of your friends that would like to help.  The voting lasts thru Nov.12.  You can vote once every day.
This bike would help strengthen her legs and hopefully help her reach her dream of walking.  Lexie will be 4 on Nov.13.  What a wonderful birthday gift this would be for her and all of us.

When you get to the link, on the left it will say "who will you pay it forward to".  Under that, the third one down, "Grace Leanen for a bike for a child with cerebral palsy"-mark that and press vote at the bottom. Thank you!

Today's WAI?

This bird is widespread and very familiar throughout Europe. It is most common in western Europe.

This should be easy for all. (except me)  Embarrassed
