Rochester Falcons / Rfalconcam Website News / The Quest Tour Merchandise Has Now Been Added to the Rfalconcam Store
|
on: 16-Apr-10, 10:37:42 PM

The Rfalconcam Merchandise Team has been hard at work, coming up with new ideas. Our newest design is the "Quest Tour", made by Lou. On some items, we've included a list of places visited by Quest through March, 2010 (the Quest Tour), which will be on the back of the shirt. You can also get a shirt with nothing on the back. Quest is definitely living up to her name. This is by no means a complete list. We may have to update the list in the future. Please consider ordering something from the Rfalconcam Store to help support this site. Now that Archer and Beauty have 4 eggs, it won't be long before young eyases will make an appearance. Keep watching! http://www.zazzle.com/rfalconcam

Great Idea, Great t-shirt! I plan on getting one, but March 2010 isn't the end of her tour. Will there be an update to include April, or until her transmitter falls off?
I'd feel better if it said something like "Quest continues on..." below the columns. Or are you going to have a second shirt that says The Quest Tour Continued?
Joyce
Of course her journey hasn't ended! Quest is the energizer bunny! She keeps going, and going, and going! Glad everyone likes it.

Definitely made by the Boy Scouts. I've been trying to find out more about the origins of the "new" nestbox. I asked June when it was made and she said she wasn't sure. She thought it was at least 10 years old. As soon as I find out the real story about this nestbox, I'll pass it along.

Compared to 24 hours ago, you can barely see the images. Is there a light turned off somewhere?
(I'm reminded of the post of Kaver and the light switch.)
I've reported this. Thanks everyone for posting when there are problems with the cameras.

Rochester Falcons / Rochester Falcon Discussion / Re: question - kaver and kestrel - c. July 2005

This is how Dan tells the story:
He (Dan) was watching from the pedestrian bridge. This was during the time that the Kestrels had a nest somewhere in the BeeBee plant, which was just east of the Kodak Tower. Peregrines and Kestrels were NOT good neighbors. Each were doing what they thought they needed to do to protect their young. "Kestrel Runs*" were a common occurrence.
One day, just a short while after the Peregrine young fledged, Kaver was out flying over the river heading towards the old Changing Scenes Restaurant. Dan thought he might either be out on a hunt or maybe on his way to the elevator shaft to get some food stored there.
On his way, a Kestrel was flying behind Kaver nagging him the whole time. At first Kaver kept flying, seeming to be ignoring the pesky Kestrel. Not so!
Dan said he saw Kaver flip over and grab the offending Kestrel. He dispatched it and served it to his young fledglings.
That's the story of Kaver and the Kestrel.

That was great, thanks for posting. You can really see the size difference!
Us (we?) occupants of the Times Square Building are finding more bird parts in the parking lot and in front of the building. I was speaking to the building owner as we watched a couple pair of mourning doves build nests in the letters on the front of the building, and he was laughing about finding bird guts outside! It's great he's so supportive.
I suppose it won't be so funny when I find dried bird parts stuck to the windshield of my car . . .
Mark - Unless your car is parked next to the building below where they're eating, that shouldn't be a problem. Maybe a feather or two blown by the wind.

why can't a housefly find its way out of a window??? Okay, here's my attempts to answer... Because it's doing a screen test. Because it likes being a pane. Because it's being sill-ee. Because its lived a shuttered life. Because the reception is bad . (Get it? It's adjusting the antennae) Because it's a dead winger. Because it's busy playing wing awound the wosie. Umm... Okay, I'll shaddup now.. Lou There's a fly in Lou's ointment.

Yes, we (Shaky, Lisa McK and Carol P) saw Archer on top of the Times Square bldg, next to the NE wing. He flew off and I spotted him flyinging past Midtown and low behind a bldg. Never saw him after that. He's probably out on a hunt.
Just an FYI that this is directly above the nestbox.
