The log is gone! I wonder how that happened.

Well, it's actually caught on the river on the north side of the bridge, west side of the river.  So it's still there, just not on top of the falls anymore.

I'm afraid this thread has taken a tern for the worse.

You're saying no one deserves this kind of tweetment? Come on, it's a mynah problem. I have no egrets.

On my Watch today, I saw a pigeon-toed Jay-walker.

I so love a happy ending and I love reading about a good soul that helps a helpless creature.  Thanks for posting this story Donna.   happy

I was favorably impressed by the 2 photos of a shrike.
It looks like a very reasonable and intelligent species.
I am thinking of inviting one out for a beer, if we get shrikes here.

I've heard they're notoriously big drinkers and they brag a lot.  Oh, and you'll have to pay the bill, since they don't have pockets.
8376  Rochester Falcons / Falcon Watches / Re: An adult and juvenile Coop in Irondequoit and a bit of Beauty on Sunday. on: 19-Jan-10, 07:20:18 AM
The funny thing is that I was roaming the mall parking lot and was threre at the same time as Dana and Lou (I never saw them).  Before the baby Coop flew over to the parent, s/he was crying her heart out on a light pole in the parking lot, just east of the spot Dana and Lou saw the parent eating.

This juvenile was just gorgeous!   wub2 heart

I've personally been approached many times by security and police.  99.9% of the time, they are very friendly and after explaining what I'm doing, they go on their way.  But some are not quite so friendly.  I've been told to leave, even after showing them the Peregrine Falcon through my binoculars or scope.  In those cases, I don't argue, I just leave.

It has really gotten a lot worse since 9/11.  Everyone is suspicious.

What an incredibly beautiful picture of an incredibly beautiful bird.  I've only seen Gyrs in captivity never in the wild.

We heard about him/her on the local birding list.  June asked me to get some pictures for her.  Whether it's a dye job or not, I hope this Pigeon survives.

Kathy O, Brian H and I visited with the Green Pigeon last weekend.

Wow...fantastic pics of that Green pigeon. How did you all find out about him/her? Is this the first in your area? He doesn't look dyed to me. See Carol, you don't miss anything either...  2funny

THANKS!!

Looks like a way of getting up on the roof of the Blue Cross Arena (aka Rochester War Memorial).  Disney on Ice is going to be there this weekend.
8383  Rochester Falcons / Rochester Falcon Discussion / Re: The Story Behind the New Main Cam Install on: 15-Jan-10, 08:03:34 AM
I've updated my blog with a report on our work to upgrade the Main camera at the Times Square building this morning.  Besides the work (it's its own reward, you know), we got to see Beauty in all her, um, beauty.  Read about it here:

http://marchlords.com/birdblog/2010/01/beauty-shows-up-for-new-mega-main-cam.html

Nice blog, Jim and nice pictures.  I don't know what is scarier-- looking up and seeing a peregrine's behind or a peregrine looking back!  Either can have frightening consequences  happy

I've seen what happens when you're just below a Peregrine's behind.  It's not a pretty sight!   scared blue Shocked surprise
8384  Rochester Falcons / Rochester Falcon Discussion / Re: The Story Behind the New Main Cam Install on: 15-Jan-10, 07:49:15 AM
Here, here!  Thanks to all the Rochester Falcons devoted fans.   notworthy

You guys/gals are the best!   thumbsup

As Shaky said, the new cameras and equipment would not have been possible without your help.   clap

Thanks to all of you!!!   2thumbsup

Carol P.

Of course, no story about the new Main Camera would be complete without thanking everyone for making such generous donations. Rfalconcam couldn't have done it without you. In fact, Rfalconcam wouldn't exist if people didn't care about the falcons. There just wouldn't be a demand for it.

Thank you.

Great job!  The picture from main cam is amazing! clap
