Oh, so that was Sir and Cirrus. Beautiful pair. They remind me a lot of Mariah and Kaver. Finally some some news about something!!! Sir and Cirrus are Hanging In October 18, 2009 - Burlington - Lift Bridge Sue McCreadie Reports: Bill and I stopped by the Lift Bridge this afternoon to see what we could see. After searching the Hamilton Hydro Tower and under the Skyway, with no luck, we decided to check out the other favourite spot, the face of the Hamilton Tower. Low and behold, there sat Mom and Dad just a few feet apart. (We are assuming it’s Mom and Dad as we didn’t get a look at any bands.) Mom appeared to be standing guard and Dad was enjoying himself preening. The pigeons were everywhere, so I guess neither were hungry as there was no hunting taking place. Looks like the adults are going to stay for the winter.

Rochester Falcons / Rochester Falcon Discussion / Re: For anyone checking for falcons at the old psychiatric center

Since we are supposed to be politically correct ( ahem!) describing the Elmwood Ave. property, I'll refer to the old center as the "building next to the RIT staff parking lot."
I regularly check the property on the weekends and have seen nothing as yet. If Zephyr stayed in the area, maybe he'll return again. We did see different falcons there in late winter/early spring last year. You never know, so check the roof top as you drive by.
Joyce Yep, I check that old, empty bldg to the south once a weekend if possible. Today there was no falcons over there, but there were 4 Red-tail Hawks soaring above Cobbs Hill. and lots of Geese walking around the old bldg. At least the sun was out!

Really too bad the transmitters are expensive and bureaucratic...would have been nice to fit Mariah while she was healing... I am personally concerned that she was again attacked.... same territory, 2 against 1, and younger birds than she...
Personally, the last thing I would have wanted was a transmitter on Mariah. As you said, she's an older bird and she was injured. We're all concerned that there will be another territorial battle, but that will hopefully not happen until next Spring, if at all. Carol P.

Carol,
If you recall, I told you last week? that I saw a large female perched on one of the light posts over 104 coming west inbound towards Greece. I have seen her on the light posts right before you get to the Veteran's Bridge near Maplewood.
Maybe...? she has decidedly moved north in the Maplewood area?
Actually, the Maplewood area is very close to Kodak Park. Where I saw this Falcon yesterday was a few miles west of Kodak Park. I've never seen Mariah (and I'm not saying that the Falcon I saw yesterday was Mariah) on a light post before, but that certainly doesn't mean she has never perched on one before.
