Thanks for all the birthday wishes, with particular thanks to Archer for showing up!
My day began with Catherine making breakfast for me, followed by Archer's return to Rochester.
That was a lot for one day, but I decided that it wasn't a real birthday unless I got to walk through dense undergrowth, wade through mud and sand, crawl up and down rocks, and maybe see a peregrine, so off I went. As you can see, our local tiercel was standing guard outside the nestbox.
I came home in time to clean off sufficiently for Mary to take me out for a great dinner at Birch and Barley.
Thanks again for the great greetings,
Paul

Maganrord is the name of the blog, not the raven. I've edited my post to include the link. It's great that your sister has a redtail nest. How big is the yard? Will the family be able to go in and out of the house without being intercepted as territorial intruders?

Let LadyBird, Sweep Commander, and BourbonHawk be your guides on this amazing Alcatraz Island birding blog. "It's a blog about the birds of Alcatraz! While most people associate Alcatraz Island with its history as a federal penitentiary, or possibly its prior history as a military fort, few are aware that it is now a federally-protected bird sanctuary. My close friend/coworker and I started this blog to bring more attention to that aspect (and also because we are total bird nerds). At the very least we have some awesome photos and video. For the curious, the name came from Marie (my name), Logan (his name), rock (as in "The Rock"), and bird. We thought it sounded super metal and brutal." We have visited Alcatraz many times and are big fans of the raven pair, who Catherine has dubbed Edgar and Allyn. Edgar and Allyn seem to have learned to coexist with the three peregrines who may have moved to the island. However, efforts by members of the Western Gull colony to evict the falcons seem not to have gone well for at least one of the gulls. http://maganrord.blogspot.com/Paul
