Wow!  Thanks!
The starling wave is my favorite, but I also really like the Iberian Wolf.

It's either a Christmas tree or an ace of spades.

Thanks for the vivid report, Donna.  What a great day!  I agree that it was likely a big Sharpie or Coopers.  I agree with Aafke that you can look forward to seeing more of the birds hiding around your house.  Sometimes, the best clue is when all the birds either freeze in place or suddenly fly off in a wave.  The latter is how I usually spot a peregrine.

While researching an article on carrier pigeons in WW1 for her magazine, my wife, Mary, came across this remarkable sentence:

"Then there is Le Cirq, the pigeon which captured a German submarine and all its crew, and Babbette, a milk-white pullet, which was camouflaged as a crow, that the German Prince's 'shot-gun squad might not harm her, flew to French headquarters with a message from a secret
observer within German lines and enabled Allied guns to stop a surprise German attack on the Meuse."

When I have to sign in for a slideshow that someone has shared with me, all I get is a black screen with a whirling icon.  However, I can view their album if I then go to Classic Gallery.  I wrote Kodak advising them of my problems and advising them to either fix the New Gallery or let it go the way of New Coke.

Personally, I think that the best Kodak Gallery was the original Ofoto one.  I hate Flash, and have a friend that cannot view either the Classic Gallery or the New Gallery because her security settings prevent her from updating Flash. Kodak could save a lot of money by simply firing their entire programming staff and returning tom the original Ofoto site and updating the Kodak logos.

She seemed quite a good sport about it.  Evidently, Australia is a place where getting whacked on the head by a large bird is a frequent occurance.

There were Snowy sightings last November on both Poplar and Hart-Miller Islands.  I fly right over Poplar Island when I go to New England, so I have been watching the island grow for years.  The first time I saw it, I had no idea what was going on in the middle of the Bay.

Next stop Cape Cod or Nantucket?  She's got a nice west wind to ride.

I guess there's a reason they call them kingbirds.

We made our usual trip to Ocracoke Inland, NC to say goodbye to summer.  It's a good bet for this, as the climate is semitropical.  This time, there were lots of juvenile gulls to puzzle over (can anyone ID these guys?), but the best part was the big, full moon rising over the dunes as the sun set.  After we got home, there was one final summer surprise on the way.
