Oh, I had no doubt that you knew about it, Bobbie.  I just wasn't sure if the rest of the members of this forum had heard of its miraculous powers.   

There is a super little film - simply called "Poitin" - which puts the whole idea across. I have not tried to find it online, but it is an Irish treasure, with Cyril Cusack.

Not to be confused with poitín (pronounced pocheen), which could be used to wash down the poutine, if you are adventurous. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Poit%C3%ADn

What's Poutine again???

When I was home in Spring, I was at a market on North Winton, and there was a Poutine Stall!!! I wanted people to go there but they had other ideas. Worth a check?? I think it (the market) is open til end October. They have lovely stuff, like yogurt. Also - there is a restaurant somewhere in the ROC area that has the Poutine. I will ask the cousin who takes me there. Who knew!
