Just sent that image to my FB birders - let's see what we get!
Another person thinks it could be a rat - but the most useful comment comes from my friend Jim (an excellent Irish birder) in Cork. He thinks it could be a pheasant with its head turned aside. Makes sense, as I have seen pheasants in the background. I have discounted the possibility of a Cheshire Cat...

Maybe an owl? ???
I wondered that too, MAK - but then wondered if it could actually be mammalian... like a rat?? Trust Donna to do this to us!! I cannot make it out. Not many day-flying owls around here, except the Short-eared - and even then, I have not heard of them going to seed feeders. Still... Will see if I can ask some of my FB birder friends here... sure is a puzzlement.

Seems I find out more about action in and around ROC when I am here, rather than there! So wonderful to see a few of you - and thanks to all for understanding that Family took precedence. Now that I am back at my desk... and with some gainful employment!... I'll be able to keep up. Best to all and thanks again! Slainte! Glad you got home safely Bobbie. Sorry I missed you this trip. Thanks, Carol and Donna and MAK! Already awaiting my next trip in May when the breeding season will be in full flight.
