Thanks, Donna! The more Cyprus hears from overseas' protestors, the more influence this petition might have. Any nation hates to have its foreign reputation down-graded, so here's hoping many of our readers will sign as well.

I hope many of you will consider signing the petition after you have read this. Thanks so much!

Sometimes, not only animals can cross that Rainbow Bridge. Mr Pinnington might be one of them.

My mother's dogs go to a groomer who is a bird lover.  The groomer acquired a parrot of some sort whose previous owners were going through a divorce.  The bird would randomly squawk "F*** you, Michael, I'll see you in court!"  She had some very shocked customers.  scared blue

Splendid!!! Wonderful!!! GREAT laugh at the end (nearly) of the working day!!!

Well now! First para says August is when they leave - then further down, it says they left in June and July! So we are both right, Donna - and the BTO needs editing!!

Why do they leave so early? In June? Pretty cool stuff Bobbie.

I did not retain that info re the June departure, Donna. Better read more carefully...

______

First paragraph says: "Our knowledge about what this amazing species does once it leaves the UK in August is extremely poor, hampering our ability to explain population changes."

Now, I must continue to read, lest they did not have an editor!!

The first bird left the UK on the 3rd June and the last on the night of the 22/23 July.

So reading farther than the first paragraph does it, huh? I am a doof!

Friends of ours had a Minah (sp?) Bird that said:

"How long are they staying?"

and

"Are the pubs open yet?"

The cuckoos have all reached Africa... a fascinating site from the BTO.
