Of course, if I could spell "Angel", it might have been more pertinent.
Saw that but didn't want to say! Just sayin!! Bobbie Angle!! Editor's note: Do NOT rely on the Spell Check!! That's why I always do a preview look before posting but in the event that I've still misspelled after posting, I use the modify option. Still getting used to that one, Kris! Uhhhh - in fact, where IS the Modify option??

Thanks to Kris G and Carol/WV and Donna re the wasps.
We realise we have different creatures here which are not honeybees - or not bees at all! But since I have read that they can be useful as pollinators - but more especially as predators of other harmful insects - we don't want to cover the place in bug spray and destroy them... and who knows what else in the process.
So, as suggested, we will wait til they are dormant... check with a local apiarist... and be prepared to move to a secure structure once we act!
Keep the suggestions coming, please!

Loving these pet bird discussions, everyone!
Pffft! I just wanted a bird I could play with and enjoy, didn't think it would ever come with eggs!!! Reminds me of a dog Rod rescued once - Holly, a sweet Sheepdog/Sheltie thingie. He found her - tired, hungry and filthy - tied with blue rope to a bumper of a car at a horse fair in Dublin and brought her home... uhhhh... she then proceeded to produce 7 puppies on our kitchen floor... Kept 2 (Holly too!), found good homes for the rest. Ya never know, D-G!

We have a very active wasps' nest in the shed - I do not go in there... I send Rod. Stood on a wasps' nest as a child and am therefore a tad wary of these critters.
So here's the thing: We do NOT want to just kill them - esp if they are useful as pollinators, predators etc. But we would like to get them out of the shed. Not sure of the species, but they make those amazing "paper" nests, all spun around and symmetrical.
Does anyone have sound, practical information and advice for us?
Thanks so much!!
Slainte!

Animals are so funny about whom they decide to "like", Amy. We once had a beautiful long-haired black cat called The Panther Cat (always known by her full name). I loved that cat - but the cat loved Rod. Whenever he appeared, she would get downright girlish. She would sit on his lap, pet his face... I did everything but turn into a mouse for her but nothing doing. Rod was The Man.
