Didn't know rats ate birds! Bad enough cats do.

I would guess - tho I stand to be corrected - that rats will predate the nests and the eggs. Perhaps the hatchlings too. Not sure about the adult birds...

If she's a 1st time mom, maybe Paul will see little Zuzu's at his feeder soon!   Did I hear Zuzu cam?

Interesting that she would leave the nest in that ugly weather    She does look like she's nursing, however.  Perhaps she leaves in nasty weather and assumes that those who would enjoy her babies for a snack will stay put?

Or...who in their right mind would go looking for a snack in the rain? Only Zuzu knows.

Maybe she just needs more "fuel" when it's cold and wet. Esp if she is a Mom now.

There are reports of Irish swans suffering too. I have not discovered the reasons yet, but this was obviously a hard winter for many of our birds. I will post when I know...

I was just looking at this post and saying to myself "Mirta will be interested in this." And then I see that Mirta has posted it!!!

(See, Mirta! I DO understand a decent amount of the Spanish... Thanks for being patient with me.)

And yet they are allowed to get behind the wheel of a car.

I drive so slow on the Interstates that the seniors HONK at me!!!  This is in the SLOW lane!
