Continuing the theme of the day, one thinks of Ireland and the Irish for their way with words. These few lines come from Jonathan Swift, Dean of St Patrick's Cathedral in Dublin. They are from "Verses on his own Death" and refer to the fact that he had contributed to the building of a local "madhouse".

He gave what little wealth he had
To build a house for fools and mad;
And showed by one satiric touch,
No nation wanted it so much.

Happy St. Patrick's Day to you!
I think that Padraig = Patrick - what's the rest?

Kinda just that... Happy St Patrick's Day! I once asked an Irish-speaking friend what to say, and I have used that translation ever since! Haha!

I assume that is Gaelic (sp?)?

The Irish just call it "Irish". For some reason, everyone else calls it Gaelic.

I would guess that many of us also love our gardens... and here is a timely reminder about using chemicals... which I seldom do. Also a PDF to download, which should be useful in whichever part of the world you garden.

"Honest, Mom, it wasn't me!"

Police are bracing themselves for a mass invasion of an ordinary home in Australia after 200,000 people replied to a party invite put on a girl’s hacked Facebook page.

A 17-year-old boy who posted an open invitation to the girl’s 16th birthday party has been arrested.
The girl’s shocked parents had the page removed from the social networking site.

Police have not identified the family or the party date to avoid encouraging would-be guests.

Police Inspector Terry Dalton said: “The only thing that anybody who turns up on that street will be met by will be some police vehicles patrolling the area.”

The 17-year-old was charged with using a telecommunications carrier to harass or offend. He is due in court in April.

Rod found this for me on the Irish TV station's RTE iPlayer... Not sure it shows Lily and Hope, as I have not watched it all the way through. Same scientist, tho. Let me know if it plays over there!
