good post That was very cute and a fun way to teach bird migration fact and fiction.

Dot in PA

Yes! I did not think of that, but you are right. Kids would enjoy it. And grown-ups too!

Or... Tracking migration. Fascinating. Here, we have the Barnacle Goose (which you may have too) - and because of their markings, it was once thought that the geese emerged from the barnacles.

Have a look at these beauties! I have seen a few - like the Bee-Eater and Egret - in Ireland... the excitement! The others, not so much. Only on the Continent. Are there rarities that grace our area/ROC? I would be interested to hear about them.

(Hmmmm... perhaps "two" is not quite "a few"...)

Interesting. I had no idea turtle doves are considered to be vulnerable.  Very soon the second verse of the Twelve Days of Christmas could become outdated.  Scary.

Scary indeed. "Two Turtle Doves" might be more than we have!

These are the most delightful little birds. Have only seen them on migration once, in Co. Cork. So obliging - or more likely, tired after their long trip.

Does anyone think it would help if all the watchers sent their pictures of all the wild life in the gorge ?  Because the falcons are there can it be off limits ?  Teach people the beauty of nature and not always having something   to do.  I will also send an email.  Look out we're on a mission !!!!!

Good idea! We will all do whatever we can to make this GO AWAY! Would the mere presence of the falcons mean developers cannot intrude in the area? Sheesh, can't they just leave Nature ALONE!? It is perfect as it is!
