This seems to be the pattern for this nest. Last spring, this nest hatched 7 eggs and let the last 2 born die a miserable death of dehydration & starvation. This year also 7 were born & the last 2 were allowed to die. What a waste, when they could be pulled & rehabbed & hacked to a US state where barn owls are endangered. With a ladder permanently attached to the nest tree so cams can be installed, lens can be cleaned, debris can be removed to better the watcher's view, etc ....... why?????
I have been donating to those cams I watch over the years but, Starr Ranch will never receive a penny from me.
I do not blame you! You would think they would do everything to save all the youngsters, including relocating. Our Irish Barn Owls are so endangered now - not that the USA ones could be brought here, but the species is not a happy one worldwide. Did they give you any reason for not acting? Save your hard-earned money for those who do care. Pity, tho.
