Try to watch the night-time cams when they get Pine Martens... lovely critters, and rare enough. I have seen only one.

Whoa! Are they back?? I check every now and then as we await - with great trepidation! - the return of the great, the legendary Lady of Lowes for one more season... seems like to much to ask for, but one always has hope.

Wow, look at these guys! I am not likely to go to Ecuador any time soon, so an armchair "watch" is the next best... sorta...

Gotta love a place called Pululahua.

A very nice article Bobbie and a beautiful white Snowy. May he find his true love.

He will then, like others, be able to say he is "in a relationship"...

laugh  You sure are getting alot of mileage and laughs out of the "relationship" card.  Wink

Must be time to quit, you reckon? wave

US lovers are being urged to forget flowers, chocolates and lingerie if they want to win the affections of their sweetheart on Valentine's Day.

The Bronx Zoo in New York believes a Madagascar hissing cockroach is the best way to ensure that Cupid’s arrow hits the target.

Spokesman John Calvelli said: “Nothing says forever like a cockroach.”

The Wildlife Conservation Society runs the New York City zoo and is raising funds by offering the public the chance to name the huge cockroaches. In return for each name, it is asking for a $10 (€7.40) donation.

Mr Calvelli said about 1,700 cockroach names were bought in the first two days of the promotion. Recipients get a certificate.

The zoo said naming a roach will honour a sweetheart’s resourcefulness and resiliency. As the zoo puts it: “Flowers wilt. Chocolates melt. Roaches are forever."

That's some list, Patti! I must count my winter visitors and see what I come up with myself. Of course, I see yours as much more exotic than mine!

I'm thinking about getting a good pair of binoculars for my office birdwatching. Does anybody have any suggestions or recommendations? I know I've asked this before, but my forum search skills are not up to finding the earlier help you guys offered.

My bins are a zillion years old, but I still love them! They are roof-prism lenses, which I find better than the "ordinary" ones. They are Minolta. And I think 8x40, which is fine for magnification - less shake than bigger ones. Be sure you find a supplier who will let you take them outside to see how they are. No point just testing them in the store, as this does not give you an idea of how they will be in the field. Let us hear how you get on!
