Thanks Bobbie, no I never saw a Coal Tit, so cool that you have them !! I looked in my Dutch bird book and we have them too, but not in my neighborhood. Are you in a city too? Maybe that makes the different?

We live in  the countryside, Aafke, so Coal Tits are pretty common here. When we lived in the city, tho, I can't remember having seen one. Maybe in city parks? Delightful little fellows.

Any sign of the Archer lad today? Seems he made a brief appearance?

Actually Bobbie, Archer did not make an appearance. He hasn't been spotted in over a week! There were 2 juvies with Beauty yesterday putting on quite a show from what I was told.  wave

Thanks, MAK. I knew there was a question about him but was not sure.

Bon voyage, Young Man! crying

Long-ish but good piece (with various links) on the state of the world's wetlands and their birds. I am always fascinated by places like Montezuma and the Braddocks area - and the fact that the uninitiated can look and think: "There's nothing here!" The Americas are doing well - not so elsewhere, esp Asia.

I'm going to say a Ruby-crowned Kinglet. gum

Looks like a Kinglet to me too.  Are these all European birds Donna?

Well, let's say I get them all off a UK site!  wave

Clearly, Donna wants to make us work harder than our European friends! tease gum

Oy! MS MAK! What makes you think the "Europeans" don't have to work hard at times too?! gum

Without looking at the species' names, "our" Goldcrests are pretty much "your" Kinglets.

A lot of Greenfinches
greetings Aafke

Aafke,we would be soooooo thrilled to see some Greenfinches back at our feeders. At one time, they nearly kept shyer birds away, but there has been quite a crash recently - and I think the same is also true with Chaffinches. So the sight of either would be sheer joy.

Surprised you had never seen Coal Tits... another frequent feeder here. Sweet little fellow. In fact, Ireland has its own sub-species... tho how they work that out, I do not know.
